Overall Self/Class Evaluation

HLAC 1035 MW 11:00am-11:50am

Zumba was an interesting course for me, given what I learned, how it affected how I view

myself, and what I find to be fun. Believe it or not, the thing I learned the most in this class was

how to do specific dance moves that act as a cardio workout. I did however, learn a few things

from the class besides actually exercising. One of these things is how doing Zumba can actually

make me feel about myself. I think the Zumba class taught me a lot more than how to get cardio

fitness out of dancing.

I definitely worked up a sweat while dancing in Zumba. My teacher was super enthusiastic

and fun to dance along with. The only time you werent actually sweating is when you werent

giving your all and having fun while doing so, which I only did once due to having a head cold.

My ability to perform certain dance moves, like the cha-cha and salsa, also improved in the class,

since it was a key element in most of the dances.

My personal views on myself changed as the semester went on. I used to be very insecure

about who I looked when I danced because of my height and weight, but now I am in a few dance

groups with my friends. It fun to be able to dance around comfortably in your own skin, and I

slowly am being able to dance, and walk, comfortably as who I am. This class also helped me find

music I enjoy dancing to, and helped me find more of it.

Overall, Zumba has been a positive impact on me. From beginning to end I felt like I was

learning and improving, and Im very glad I took the class. Without it, I may not be as into dancing

as I am now, and may not be as confident.
