This term in art class really opened a great avenue for me to learn the various techniques
and eras art has. It helped me be informed about the evolution of art as well as the people involved
in the movements of art. Not only that, this term also taught me the skills needed in order to
achieve the effect required in a certain art movement. First of which is the skill of brushing quickly
in order to achieve an impressionistic style in my painting. This skill was developed and honed
during our painting activity about impressionism. It developed my accuracy and control with
regards to brushing which was really helpful in our GRASPS. Next is my color selection and
blending skill. After our activity, I was more adept in selecting colors which are more fitting for the
subject of the painting while also considering the colors needed to be blended afterwards. This
skill was very helpful because I was able to use it during our installation art for our GRASPS. Last
is my skill for visualization. After our GRASPS, I was able to picture objects in my mind as well as
how they fit with other objects. This skill was improved by our GRASPS when our group was
making triangles for our geometric mountain.
Another thing that I liked about this term is its activities that really broadened our
perspective and challenged our skills. Because of this term, not only did we learn about concepts
but we also got the chance to apply them as well. Besides the activities that we had this term, I
also like to add some other activities that I think will prove both fun and educational. First is
combining two or more movements of art together in one painting. I personally think that this will
be able to challenge our ideas as a class and help improve our designing skills. Last is an
exposure trip in art exhibits. This is because this trip will allow us to view art works of various
known and unknown artists. Not only that, this will also help us widen our ideas in terms of
adapting the design of that artwork and incorporating it into ours.
One application of all our skills in art is the GRASPS activity which needed us to make an
installation art about a certain topic in another subject. Personally, I think that my ideas were
helpful in my group. This is because I suggested things and methods that will make the work
easier and faster. I also suggested some changes to be done in order for the project to be feasible
and attainable. Lastly, I also planned the activities needed to be done so that no time will be
wasted in every subject period that was allotted for the installation art.
In the end of the GRASPS, I evaluated myself in terms of my personal performance in the
group activity. I realized that there are some things that I need to improve on with regards to how
I work efficiently. First is finalization of designs. Because of the many suggestions being offered
by my group mates in the middle of the creation, we had a hard time finalizing which design was
to be followed. There were times that we redesigned our installation art because of it proving to
be harder than we thought that was due to the lack of foreseeing what problems will be
encountered in the future. The solution we took was an objective reasoning. We laid out all the
steps and consequences that we will be following if we were to take a certain decision. This proved
to be very helpful because we were able to follow one decision wholeheartedly. Last is efficiency.
There was a time wherein our group work was delayed because we didnt ready the materials
needed for the creation. This resulted in wasted time but fortunately we were able to come up
with a solution quickly. We allotted the time for filming some parts of the video and for dealing
productively with the materials that were at hand in that time.
