Instructions on Installing MBS from a CD

NOTE: Before starting, do not plug the USB lock into the port as that will be done later.

1. Starting Installation Process

Upon inserting the CD in the computer (if auto-play is enabled), the screen below will be
displayed.

If the auto-play is not enabled, you can click Start | Run and enter x:\autorun.exe and press
enter or click Ok to continue. x is the drive letter of your CD-ROM/DVD device.
2. Step 1 .. Install MBS Software

At this step, you click the "Install MBS Software" to launch the installation program. The
screen shown below will be displayed.

Click Next to continue.


After reading, click Next to continue

If you are going to install onto a new computer, click New User then click Next to continue.
Otherwise, you can just click Next.
After reading, click Next to continue. This is showing the destination folders of where the
program will be installed to. There are other sub-folders under the C:\MBS folder but this
list displayed is the main file locations.

When ready to install, click Install. The program will then place the MBS program on the
computer.
When the install is completed, you will get the screen below displayed.

After reading, click Next to continue. This screen is just displaying the same information as
in the beginning of the install.

Click Finish to return to the menu screen unless you receive a screen asking to reboot your
computer, shown below.
3. Step 2 .. Install Climatic Data Retrieval

At this step, you click the "Install Climatic Data Retrieval" to launch the installation program.
The screen shown below will be displayed. This is only needed if you are going to be making
buildings in the United States or Canada.
Click Next to continue

Click Next to continue.

NOTE: you should only change this if you know what you are doing.

Click Next to continue.


NOTE: if there will be others using this computer, then change to "Make shortcuts available
to all users". Otherwise, you will only need to have for current user only.

Click Next to continue. This will place the files needed to run this program into the correct
MBS folder and sub-folders on your hard drive.

NOTE: This program does not run independently from MBS.


Click Finish to return to the menu screen.

4. Step 3 .. Install TDF Editor

At this step, you click the "Install TDF Editor" to launch the installation program. The screen
shown below will be displayed.
Click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.

NOTE: Like the Climate program, you will need to only change the destination folder if you
know what you are doing.
Click Next to continue.

NOTE: if there will be others using this computer, then change to "Make shortcuts available
to all users". Otherwise, you will only need to have for current user only.

Click Next to continue. This will place the files needed to run this program into the correct
MBS folder and sub-folders on your hard drive.

NOTE: This program does not run independently from MBS.


Click Finish to return to the menu screen.

5. Step 4 .. Install Visual Parameter Editor

At this step, you click the "Install Visual Param Editor" to launch the installation program.
The screen shown below will be displayed.
Click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.

NOTE: Like the Climate program, you will need to only change the destination folder if you
know what you are doing.
Click Next to continue.

NOTE: if there will be others using this computer, then change to "Make shortcuts available
to all users". Otherwise, you will only need to have for current user only.

Click Next to continue. This will place the files needed to run this program into the correct
MBS folder and sub-folders on your hard drive.

NOTE: This program does not run independently from MBS.


Click Finish to return to the menu screen.

6. Step 5 .. Install Comprehensive Reports (optional)

At this step, you click the "Install Comprehensive Reports" to launch the installation
program. The screen shown below will be displayed.
Click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.

NOTE: Unlike the Climate program, you do not have access to change where this program
needs to be installed. If you want to change where this program is run from, you will
be able to do that after it has been installed.
Click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue. This will place the files needed to run this program into the correct
MBS folder and sub-folders on your hard drive.
Click Finish to return to the menu screen unless you receive a screen asking to reboot your
computer.

7. Step 6 .. Install Az-Tech Software

At this step, you click the "Install Az-Tech Software" to launch the installation program. The
screen shown below will be displayed.

Click Install to continue.

NOTE: This version of the install program will determine the operating system that you are
using so that it can install the correct drivers. Older versions did not do this.

NOTE: This version is usable with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. Any of the older
versions will not work with the newer operating systems.
Click Finish to return to the menu screen unless you receive a screen asking to reboot your
computer.

NOTE: You will also need to copy the IBFS32.dll to the C:\Windows folder (or System32
folder) if you are doing an update to an existing MBS install.

8. Step 7 .. Install Borland Database Engine (also called BDE)

At this step, you click the "Install Borland Database Engine" to launch the installation
program. The screen shown below will be displayed.
Click Next to continue.

Click Install to continue. This will place the files needed to use this program into the correct
folders on your hard drive.

NOTE: This program is not MBS created but is third-party software. This engine is needed
for the Climate, TDF Editor, and Visual Parameter Editor.
Click Finish to return to the menu screen unless you receive a screen asking to reboot your
computer.

9. Step 8 .. Install MBS FTP_Updater

At this step, you click the "Install MBS FTP_Updater" to launch the installation program. The
screen shown below will be displayed.
Click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.

NOTE: Unlike the Climate program, you do not have access to change where this program
needs to be installed. If you want to change where this program is run from, you will
be able to do that after it has been installed.
Click Next to continue.

NOTE: if there will be others using this computer, then change to "Make shortcuts available
to all users". Otherwise, you will only need to have for current user only.
Click Next to continue. This will place the files needed to run this program into the correct
MBS folder and sub-folders on your hard drive. It will also add shortcuts to your desktop
and start menus.

Click Finish to return to the menu screen.

10. Step 9 .. Plug the USB lock into USB port.

At this step, you plug the USB lock into a USB port. When the lock is plugged in you might
get a "Found New Hardware Wizard" screen. If the driver was installed correctly, you might
not get this screen. I am just do this to show what should be done if you do get to this
point.
Click No, not this time and then Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.


Click Continue Anyway to continue.

Click Finish to return to the menu screen.

Click Exit on menu screen to exit program.
