Algebraic Expressions
An algebraic expression is a mathematical
phrase that contains variables (like x or y),
operators (like add, subtract, multiply, and
divide), and can contain constants
(ordinary numbers).
Variables are letters that stand for an
unknown number

x is the variable in this example.


Coefficient is a number used to multiply a
variable.

5 is the coefficient in this example.


A constant is a number on its own
3 is the constant in this example.

Terms are parts of the expression


5x and 3 are the terms in this expression.
