BRIGADA ESKWELA
May 30- June 4 2016
Students and teachers believe that environment plays a big part in everyone. And so, if
classrooms are not making it easy to learning because of poor estate and some defective school facilities,
education is obstructed.

The Department of Education conducted this years Brigada Eskwela ,also known as the National
Schools Maintenance Week on May 30 June 4, 2016 where all education stakeholders, facilities,
students, teachers, guardians contributed their time, effort and resources that is aimed to prepare the
school one week before its formal opening of classes.

On the First Day of the Brigada Eskwela, May 30, 2016, as part of the advocacy program,
motorcade was started at 8:00 am to disseminate the information. This was led by school heads of
Elementary and High School, PTCAs, School Personnels, barangay officials, SSG Officers and students
of the Municipality of Sarrat Ilocos Norte..

Thus, the group came up with the decision to have schedules to help for the duration of the week
long implementation of the program. It turned out as part of the Barangay community service Program
in which barangay aide personnel was assigned during the period. The school without the community, it
is surely believed that the school is the face of the barangay, likewise that the community cannot stand
without the school. Thus, all the people in the community even those whose children were not studying in
the school, gave a hard and volunteered to support the program.

The stakeholders, teachers, facilities are very grateful because with the help of people who
volunteered and the following things would not have been possible:

Cleaning of the school grounds, designated classrooms

New cleaning materials
Repairing of classrooms
Repair of ceilings/roofs, dilapidated chairs, windows, doors, fixing of bulletin boards
Re-painting the walls, blackboards, windows
Repairing the DOST, Math, and IHUB building
New trash bins
Because of the new k-12 system, more classrooms had been made
As a whole, all the tasks that was done were indeed successful for this DepEd project.
Stakeholders showed their initiatives providing anything that that could give for the success of
this event. With this, we could say that the school is now well prepared to be the second home of
the learners being hazard-free, conducive and enjoyable place to stay in.
