The Democratic Age: An Inevitable Phenomena

Its been centuries since the world seek for the answers to our problems. It all started when the first
men that lived in this world wondered on how they could survived. They tend to find their needs in their
environment. The more resources the place have the longer they can stay on it. This leads to the
movement of people from time to time. The frequent migration of these people later on fell into what so
called community. With this community the survival of these people was attested. Their survival means
battles so the people chose the strongest man in their community as leaders for their security. Those
times only manifest an ancient form of government but then it was far to what we had flourished
through the past millennium. Up to now, there is no perfect formula for a good government it solely
depends on the culture, purpose and people.
Now, most of the countries was molded by the rise of democracy. It is like a ever growing trend in
the world of politics. It is a source of modern day type of government that is subjected to queries.
Democracy means people and typically the power is in the hands of the people. It sound cliche but the
account behind democracy is indefinite.
The emerging popular music, movies, and television changed the way we perceived the world
around us. Pop culture made a public fame among societal strata. These are great influences in our daily
lives that eventually affect the way we perceive democracy. A large scale phenomena that embarks for
possibilities of a unified idealism in other aspects.
Technology drives the information awareness of the people. It is a medium for information without
constraint. That is why some people will undefinitely abuse it. Try to imagine those beggars that
frequently begs for you for money. They have different intentions whether good or bad. The worst is
they were forced to by their parents to beg because of poverty. Technology goes the same. It is
beneficial to all because it can connect society without barriers but then giving freedom to opportunist is
useless. Constraints are not absolute and information must be censored on a certain extent.
The democratization of information is relatively positive or negative. Terrorism is only a depiction
on how people abuse of idealism. The difference of idealism results to misunderstanding contrary to the
universal pop culture. No matter how how big or small the group is. There are no more exceptions. The
terrorism perjures democracy and democracy perjures authority.
Despite of the criticism that democracy endures. Surprisingly it is beneficial yet impractical.
Beneficial in terms of diverse suggestions to solve a certain issue that concerns the public yet
impractical because the blames are only adresse into the government as we see faults without knowing
the real purpose of democracy. It sounds funny but then that is the reality among society now in the
midst of accessible information.
Democracy is termed as liberal democracy in the west. Its means practicing the democratic rights
of people with the rules of law concerning the welfare of everybody.
 Democracy and liberal democracy are two things that do not go together in the western countries.
In some countries, election is practiced and the power of people is portrayed. These are purely
democracy not liberal democracy but then the world is increasingly democratic.
We have the that unified view of democracy. The more the parties involved the more democratic
the country. This point of view is useless. It must be on the people, their idealism of what social,
political, economic, and religious rights should be considered. Hence, the struggle for finding a good
government is also useless.
Constitutional liberalism is not on the selection of who will leads us in the future but pursuance of
the governments goals. It mainly focused on the autonomy of every sector such as the church and state.
America, a liberal democratic pioneer, sees conflict between democracy and liberty. Tracing the
history in the slavery was prevalent in the 1950s. It was inflicted with the liberalism. During that point
the majority of southern tend to backlash with the Jim Crow system. The fall of slavery in the mid 20th
century.
Giving credits to the Americas effort in propagating the liberal democracy. They see their country
as unique. No one should ever should mimic their way of governance but in the Philippines, democracy
rose in the time of American colonialism. They brought western cultures as well as their form
government in which the present Philippine Constitution was paralleled. It was composed of tripartite:
the senate, the congress and the president. These are equally different. In terms of scope and limitations.
The difference between the Philippines and the America is that they have different definitions of
power. Alongside with constitutional basis, the majoritys decision is at stake. In the Philippines, the
representatives of every district in the congress depends on the population contrary to the American
view of 1 state is to 2 representative in the senate.
America being a liberal democratic country had many problems too but not as those of the third
world countries. The laws are well established but it has also flaws in it. Many institutions not covered
by the laws are undemocratic. Threatening the ideology of democracy giving hierarchic and closed
structures to function. Now, transparency has been a pressure of public to the government.
Democracy we live in today according to Aristotle is a mixed regime. It is a complex, diverse
which every institution have a strong entity into society. Not all of them are subjected to free judgement.
Democracy need reforms suitable for the challenges of the modern world. The evident solution for all of
these is learning from the past.
