POWER FARM
Power farm is a self sustainable farm method practiced in a properly laid out
community with the sole aim of agriculture production, waste management,
community self sustainability, solar power generation and bio-fuels
production. Aimed at making agriculture attractive to a wider and younger
section of the population, a 100 acre arable land with the presence of a natural
water source is easily converted into a self sustainable farm community with
electricity and water available and self renewable year round.

With a population of a 100 adults or more, livestock and poultry population of

a 1000 or more, very affordable housing, sheds, materials, machinery, labour
and tools, the program aims to build a self sustainable eco friendly estate
plantation community that uses faecal and organic waste from the
communitys livestock and human population to produce bio-fuels for the
communitys energy needs, and for commercial sale.

Using a system that connects sewage from every household and livestock shed
in the community to a well managed methane digester septic tank, and a
biogas generator attached with a storage and dispensary facility - methane gas
will be harvested for domestic and for commercial purposes.
Excess faecal matter from livestock, poultry and organic waste from the human
population in the community will be converted into organic fertilizer for farm
use. Plastic waste will be converted into diesel oil with the process of Pyrolysis.
Buildings and sheds can be equipped with solar panels and power convertors
to harness electric power to be store in a power bank for domestic use and
commercial purposes. A power house will be set up to harness and distribute
energy to all parts of the farm and likewise a dam for water distribution.
Waste from households and animal sheds will be recycled to produce biogas and organic
composts.
A properly coordinated and laid out agriculture practice ensures maximum production
Divided into four zones, a part of the land will be used to cultivate an
integrated plantation size cash crop, another part for a fresh water dam to
produce clean water for domestic, irrigation and fish cultivation and a portion
for livestock and poultry keeping. Water harnessed from fish cultivation which
is very rich in ammonia will serve as a means of irrigation for the crops. Slurry
waste from the biogas digester will be used as manure for the plants, and the
fourth portion will be used for the construction of buildings for various
purposes. With an integrated irrigation system and availability of organic
manure, agriculture production is expected year round, season in season out.

Using pumps for irrigation and pipe bon water dispensation

Building with clay and bamboo is much cheaper and more sustainable
Building with clay bricks and clay tiles is more affordable
With the governments policy of one village one dam, one district one factory
etc; we intend to use a similar approach but a more sustainable and self
dependent method, completely independent off the national water and energy
grid when fully operational. The community is expected to grow gradually and
sturdily alongside the livestock and crop field with the aim of eventually
establishing a factory to process the farms produce and if possible, build a
manufacturing unit to manufacture products for sale in markets and in shops.

Specific groups of people will be assigned to specific groups of crops, farm

animals, fish ponds, dam, power unit, processing plant, and specific duties like
irrigation, veterinary service, supervision, farm hands, healthcare,
management, maintenance, dispensary, welfare and commerce. Every
employable individual living on the estate would be employed on the site.
Using the power farm method is less stressful, less wasteful and ecologically friendly. The
use of firewood and charcoal will be reduced and waste produced on the farm site will be
recycled into fuel and manure for use and for sale.

The power farm is best situated close to a town or sizeable village settlement
in order to enable an easy commercial service exchange between the
settlement and the power farm project. Providing jobs and services to the
village or town settlement and giving the ever migrating young population an
alternative for employment and resettlement very close to their homes and
family.

Projected at providing every interested family with an affordable house they

own, and every adult a befitted accommodation equipped with electricity,
water, access to employment and food, access to education and a place of
worship, power farm will provide a better and cheaper option of livelihood for
the ordinary citizen. Building affordable houses in communities for the local
population, harvesting rain water, solar energy and bio-fuels for trade and
commerce and above all providing eco friendly communities to counter Global
Warming; Under the governments affordable housing and affordable energy
initiative, we intend to engage the government and people to adopt the
Power farm method which is very affordable, sustainable and efficient.

Machinery, tools and materials needed for the construction, maintenance and
production will be acquired locally from preferably the Kantanka group.
Process of making and recycling waste into bio gas and organic compost

A group of ten people can use 10acres of arable land and the presence of a
water body, livestock and poultry population of a hundred or more, machinery
etc to undertake a much smaller community project. The size of the
community can be adjusted right down to a single family of four or more. A
whole community can opt to rebuild their houses, roads, public buildings,
sewage systems and waste management using our coordinated and integrated
self sustaining Power farm method.

Using locally manufactured clay bricks and tiles, glass and ceramic ware, the
cost of building housing and shed units for the community will be considerably
low. Some communities in Ghana and Africa at large are not well planned or
properly laid out and this has caused congestion and contributed to the spread
of diseases that could otherwise be prevented if the sewage, drainage,
ventilation, accessibility and garbage needs of these communities were
properly addressed during the time of planning and of construction.
With this program, such neighbourhoods will be gradually eliminated from our
society as cheaper and affordable means of housing will be provided that come
with water, fuel and electricity prices at a much cheaper rate per a unit.

Also is the idea that our sheds, which will be divided into stables, piggeries and
mainly housing for livestock and poultry can be rented out to individuals
residing outside the farm site who have sizeable amounts of livestock and
poultry but have no proper means of keeping them. This will put some control
on the menace of stray animals that cause destruction and confusion in our
various communities. Appropriate measures will be adopted to make
identification of animals easy for their respective owners.
Establishment of a school, health centre, market, a security post and a factory
are some of the ultimate aims of putting up such a community. A school for
specific studies like a solely agriculture institution, a technical and construction
institution or a science and engineering institution for all manner of students
right from the primary to tertiary level. So in this case a school for musicians or
one for art and fashion can be a part of the community, depending on the
interests and aspirations of the people or community involved.

Whole communities can consider the power farm initiative as a resolve to the
problem of not having a well planned out neighbourhood. Systematically,
unplanned communities can be taken down for better laid out buildings, parks,
vehicle terminals, markets, roads, ports and farmlands to take their place.
Everybody makes waste including plants and animals and the power farm
program aims ultimately, to make total use of this waste to produce energy for
domestic and commercial purposes.

Processing faecal, organic and plastic waste into fuel
POWER HOUSE
Power house; is a building designed to harvest and store or distribute
electrical energy, bio-fuels and water for use by its occupants and if in excess,
for sale to prospective buyers.

The building is equipped with solar panels that can produce enough electricity
to power the entire building and store excess energy in a power bank for use
after sunset. Solar panels rely on sunlight to produce electricity during the day
and the energy produced by the solar panels is enough for the electricity needs
of the building and at the same time to charge batteries in a power bank to be
used when the sun sets and during times when there is no sunlight.

The entire sewer system in the building is connected, and empties into a bio
gas digester septic tank. Liquid food waste produced by the buildings
occupants is to be emptied into an outlet in the kitchen connected to the
sewer system. An inlet is located in close proximity to the digester septic tank
into which organic waste produced in the building will be dumped.
This inlet, projected out of the ground is connected to the bio gas digester
septic tank and is located almost directly above it.

A bio gas digester septic tank is designed to break down liquid and solid
organic matter into butane gas and a liquidised by product that is used as
organic fertilizer; this process is known as digestion and thus the name digester
septic tank.

Butane gas or methane as it is also known is to be extracted from the digester

and stored in a pressurized container for distribution in the building for
domestic uses like cooking, heating and power generation. Aside storing
energy in a power bank charged by solar panels, excess methane gas can be
used to power a biogas power generator to support the power bank during the
night and at times when there are heavy clouds blocking the suns rays.

A mechanically drilled borehole is attached with a submersible pumping
machine and connected to underground water cisterns located beneath the
compound on which the building is sited.

All rain water coming into the compound is collected into a water reservoir
connected to the underground cisterns. The reservoir is designed such that
when it is filled to a point, it flows out through an opening that connects to the
cistern. When the cistern is full, thousands of gallons of water is stored in it
and this water is available for use by the buildings occupants, and for sale to
prospective buyers.
The building is constructed using every necessary means to bring its cost
considerably low, affordable and patronized by many. Using fired and unfired
locally produced clay bricks, locally made ceramic tiles and glassware, locally
produced cement and ironware, the entire cost of construction and
maintenance is relatively less compared to the average cost of constructing
and maintaining the same size building equipped with the same facilities.

Power house is an affordable and self sustainable choice of constructing

buildings for use as homes, factories and cooperate work places. Waste is
automatically separated and disposed off by the buildings occupants as organic
waste is essential to the buildings running and upkeep. A properly regulated
waste disposal cycle ensures that all manner of waste are separated before
disposal into waste bins that are located in specific areas of the building and on
the compound.
