Melissa Davis
Nursing Manager
1501 N Campbell Ave
Tucson, AZ 85724

Dear Mrs. Davis:

I am highly interested in being part of the 7W team as part of the Banner New Nurse Experience
available at Banner University Medical Center. I will be graduating from The University of
Arizona College of Nursing in December of 2017, and I am planning to take the NCLEX in
February 2018. Banners non-profit mission to provide innovative and academic based health
care services to the community attracts me to this position. The practice of funneling the profits
back into the hospital to ensure safe, efficient, and effective health care delivery resonates with
my commitment to compassionate and patient centered nursing.

Throughout my two years of clinical experience and theory courses, I have demonstrated my
ability to utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide evidence based
care to my patients. During my rotation at St. Josephs Intensive Care Unit, I gained crucial
experience in assessing and identifying a change in my patients condition. I managed life
sustaining treatments including ventilator support, chest tubes, and sedation drips. As a student,
I embraced the crucial role of educating families on their loved ones condition, treatments, and
plan of care moving forward. Since then, I have continued to develop my nursing skills on 7W.

During my recent preceptorship on the 7W night shift, I was part of a collective team dedicated
to first rate patient care in a dynamic, fast paced, and ever-changing acute care setting. I
acquired invaluable experience caring for patients with diverse disease processes and treatment
modalities for the opportunity to gain experience with advanced nursing skills. I gained
proficiency in developing a unique plan of care for my patients based on an assessment of their
physical, spiritual, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and cultural needs. My
incredible preceptor Stephanie Reinhart supported my implementation of individual plans of care
through direct patient centered interventions. I gained competence in effective delegation skills,
coordination of care, and ensuring continuity of care through comprehensive discharge planning.

When Stephanie suggested that I apply to this unit based on my management of the high acuity
patient loads, positive collaboration with the staff members, and interactions with the patients, I
was affirmed in my desire to join this team. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you
in person and discuss potential next steps. I look forward to speaking to you again, and please do
not hesitate to contact me at 520-784-1428. Thank you kindly for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Alex Cole
