I will be seeking to understand my students with questions and prompts. I will always encourage
students to work and share ideas with partners. Additionally asking them to take charge of their own
learning.

Identify at least 2 ways you will gain whole group attention: Counting backwards
Zero voices hand signal
Strategies you intend to use to redirect individual students: Physical proximity

DOMAIN 3: INSTRUCTION

CONTENT MANAGEMENT: THE LESSON

Motivation/Opening/Intro:

Start lesson with students at their seats.

We are going to watch a Bill Nye video about the water cycle. While youre watching the
video I want you to answer one question. Why is the water cycle important?

Play Bill Nye water cycle video. After video give students 2 minutes to share their answers to
the big question.

Development:

The water cycle is so important because the water we currently have on earth is all the water
there is. It never goes away, it is only changing forms.

Today we are going to be working in groups of five. Each group will be working on a different
part of the water cycle. Your job is to teach us all about that part of the water cycle.

Show students diagram of water cycle. Write parts of project on the board.

In your poster you need: The name of your step in the water cycle. A picture of what it might
look like. Important things we should know about this step.

Move desks and arrange students in small groups. Each group getting a large piece of chart
paper. Spend time surveying small groups and answering questions as needed.

When we think about what information to use in our poster lets make sure we use our
resources like the notes weve been taking this week. We can use this to help us remember key
details.

Students will bring chart paper to front board and present to the class.

Closure:

Its important to always take out learning and represent it in our own way. yesterday we fill
out a diagram about the different steps of the water cycle. Today we are going to make our
own!

Students may use colored pencils and markers to create their own water cycle. Ensure that
students are including pictures and correctly spelled words.
