Sub: Interview call for Direct Ph.D. admission

We thank you for your interest in the research programme of our department. With reference to your application,
you have been shortlisted for the interview process for Direct Ph.D. programme in the Department of Chemical
Engineering. The interview process for M.S./Direct Ph.D./Ph.D. admissions to Chemical Engineering at this
Institute will be held on 24th and 25th November 2016. The interview process consists of written test and oral
interview (for those who qualify the written test). The written test is common to all the candidates.

You are requested to report for the written test* and oral interview* on 24th November 2016 (Thursday) at 8.00
am in the Department of Chemical Engineering Office in the Mechanical Sciences Block (MSB). You should
plan on staying for the 2 days (24th and 25th November 2016). You must attend the written test and oral
interview (if you qualify in the written test) without which it is not possible to consider your candidature.

Kindly bring printed copy of application mailed to you after your on-line registration and all relevant original
certificates (such as community certificate, UG mark sheet, degree certificate and GATE score card) and
photocopies for verification. Also, please bring this letter or a printed copy of the email sent to you. Candidates
called for interview (Direct Ph.D.) are eligible for reimbursement of second sleeper class to and fro train fare
from their place of residence to Chennai by the shortest route on submission of their claim.

Shortlisted candidates can get accommodation in the hostels at a nominal fee, during the interview. If you wish
to avail hostel accommodation, kindly apply through http://hosteldine.iitm.ac.in/iitmhostel/. While applying,
you have to upload this correspondence letter/email for verification. The selected candidates have to join the
research programme in January 2017 (July 2017 for candidates graduating in 2017).
