THE FUTURE LIES IN INTERNET METERING

Worldwide access to the Internet, with its low communication costs, emphasises the
increasing importance of Internet metering. New or existing meters can communi-
cate via the Internet using GPRS (mobile telephone) or an Internet connection. The
flexible solution package from Landis+Gyr lets you continue to operate your existing
infrastructure, such as central station, meters, etc., and simply upgrade to Internet
metering.

Our subsidiary meter2cash has developed the software necessary for remote meter
reading via the Internet: iMEGA. This package forms the interface between the
meters and the RMR central station, and is also an important security component for
the overall system, since only a valid code gives access to the meter. The software
can be implemented for meters and RMR central stations from diverse equipment
suppliers.

Internet metering also offers other advantages. Reduction of readout times due to
parallel data collection. Reduction of communication costs, since roaming charges
do not exist. New applications can also be generated.
