Coming from an architectural background that entirely focussed on understanding the various

requirements of different stakeholders. My interest in urban planning is though initially new found.
It all started after extensive interaction with my faculties that acted as a foundation. I also started
taking part in their urban scale projects that involved surveying, analyzing and resolving complex
urban issues of muzaffarpur city in bihar. That also included preparation of various detailed maps. It
was then I got introduced with the various negative aspects of an unplanned city and its need for
improvement. I realised we all were living inside a box that fails to provide pleasure for eyes, body
and soul, the only thing it attracts is files and pollution in the sky. This is how I started to understand
the importance of planning.

I got the opportunity to visit china, where I realized the true meaning of equality, that a citizen in a
Rs. 3000 bicycle is as important as one in a Rs. 30,00,000 car by providing them with a separate
protected bicycle lane.

These incidents motivated me to pursue post graduation in urban regional planning. As an architect
my only role is to make a building functional and attractive but with planning I can focus on
improving society and diversity as well as start paying attention towards the current issues in the
modern environment such as land-use and sustainable development.

After an extensive interaction with the students of various institute. I have decided to seek
enrollment for masters in urban planning. I have also looked at your programs and credentials and
have no doubt regarding its excellent academic reputation as it offers a perfect route to gain
practical knowledge and invaluable skills.
FOR URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING

While pursuing my B. Arch, I gradually started getting inclined towards planning. My summer
internship at Muzaffarpur , Bihar which has also been selected under the smart city program gave
me the opportunity of understanding various planning parameters such as land use , sustainable
development, climatic restrictions, transportation network while working on an urban project that
comprised of various surveys and analysis.

My visit to China further boosted my desire and made me realise that the life of a city depends on its
residents and their happiness parameters. It consists of the largest and fastest sustainable rapid bus
transit system & network, separate lanes for motorised and non-motorised vehicles, exceptional
view, future reservations, excellent ground services and a lot more that it explains the value of time,
health and equality among them.

I have always wanted to do masters in an area that provides me with additional qualification to that
I already possess. And pursuing masters in Urban and regional planning at your esteemed university
would be a perfect route to gain practical knowledge and invaluable skills to contribute towards the
improvement of our society.
FOR SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE

Coming from a small town, I had no clue about architecture during my initial studies, for me
buildings were just related to builders and civil engineers. My first interaction with architecture was
just a beneficial mistake. My interest in sustainable architecture started while studying climatology.

While pursuing my bachelors degree, my faculties made me realise the importance of incorporating
various green and intelligent building concepts such as circulation, orientations and use of cost
effective elements in my designs. Case studies for various competitions provided a fair amount of
knowledge about various problems and its solutions.

At university, besides regular studies , I have also attended a workshop under the guidance of Prof.
Anil Laul on appropriate technologies and building materials that featured on the use and making of
hollow-core interlocking blocks , funicular shell roofing and various other low cost technologies. I
have also attended a workshop on earthquake resistant building held at IIT Kanpur. Beside that i
have also enrolled myself for a Sustainable Habitat workshop at auroville.

smart low cost house.

District hospital at Satna (M.P.) as my B.Arch thesis topic was an attempt to design a revolutionary
model that focussed on incorporating various elements which could be beneficial in healing the
psychological senses of patients.
Challenge was to handle a site of 11 acres keeping in mind the different planning and designing
aspects. And to understand the various infrastructure that drives a hospital i.e. different
departments with their functions & services, with the traffic movement patterns they generate.

The Concept of the design revolved around creating courtyards and focussing on patient centered
design for a better experience through light , acoustics and finishes. And also inculcating gree ideas
like healing gardens and walking spaces. The entire site was enveloped by trees on its periphery
thus cutting down the noise levels and creating a pollution free environment, as the site was
located at the heart of the city .

Thesis outcome was an amalgation of understanding at neighbourhood level to building level with
sustainable factors.
FOR URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING

My inclination towards urban planning started during my B.Arch where I got the opportunity to
survey and analize muzaffarpur city which has been selected for the smart city project under GOI
intiative through different techniques.During which I learned about the various planning
parameters such as land use , sustainable development, climatic conditions, traffic and transport
issues and drainage systems.

Further My international visit to China boosted my desire and made me realise that the life of a city
depends on its residents and their happiness index which my faculties used to teach. There I
observed on how the worlds leading sustainable infrastructure system with its rapid bus transit
system & network, dedicated lanes for motorised and non-motorised vehicles, futuristic planning
with top level of security and services works. It also helped me in understanding the five points of
Kevin lynch i.e. paths, edges, districts, nodes and landmark.

My appetite to urge higher education to contribute towards the betterment of our society has
guided me to purse my masters in urban and regional planning. And i would be blessed if i
understand the basic of urban planning from such a university of national importance.
