Who is the exceptional student you are planning for and what is their special need?
Our exceptional student will be deaf. We plan on assisting them throughout the lesson each day
by using closed caption on all videos shown. As teachers we will all be very expressive by using
visual hand motions, as well as using visual symbols for everything we are trying to explain and
teach. Visible motions/movements, and/or timers will be used for transitions._______________
Outline below, what will take place on each day? Who is responsible for typing that lesson?

Day 1: The teacher will introduce the lesson while check the students background knowledge
and with a Kahoot game. The teacher will conduct a brief direct teach introducing the branches
of government in Florida and their powers, the state and local governments in Florida, and
Floridas constitution. The teacher will introduce the three centers (Legislative, Executive,
Judicial) and what will be expected at each. Stephanie

Day 2: The teacher will review the expectations of the three centers. The students will rotate
between the three centers (Legislative, Executive, Judicial). After the centers have been visited
the class will group back together and discuss with the teacher what they learned. Bridget

both the state and local governments and their officials while students create compare/contrast
graphic organizers (ex. Venn diagram) to help facilitate the information being taught. Allie

Day 5: The class will bring together everything they have learned by creating a mock classroom
government. The students will play the roles of citizens, and specific government officials they
have learned about this week. The goal is to discuss, debate, and overcome a situation chosen by
the teacher that is affecting the well-being of the class/classroom. The students will have three
attempts to solve the problem and they will be timed. They will need to collaborate and use all
the knowledge they have learned to be successful in this mock activity. Nicole
