Project Objectives from Industry Mentor’s Vision:

The objective of the project is to automate the entire business process

and functions of the organization viz. Human Resource, Finance,
Projects, Customer Relationship, and Internal Communication System.
The ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is intended to meet the
following goals and objectives:

1. Automate all business functions in the organization.

2. Remove the dependency on the manual process.
3. To create a single point framework for all activities in the
organization.
4. To create a measurable entity for the business functions.
5. To create business metrics, which can be tracked and traced at
any point of time.
6. To reduce the overall turnaround time for various business
activities.

Introduction:

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is an integrated computer-

based system used to manage internal and external resources
including tangible assets, financial resources, materials, and human
resources. It is an application and software architecture whose purpose
is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions
inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections
to outside stakeholders. ERP systems consolidate all business
operations into a uniform and enterprise wide system environment.

Key Features of Project Work:

• Project Management System includes modules for scheduling,

resource allocation, change request management, project
analysis, budget management and daily task management.

• Human Resource Management includes modules for record

keeping for all personal data, timesheet and attendance,
performance appraisal, employee benefits and compensation,
recruitment and selection, leave approvals, and career
development through training programs.

• Financial Management includes modules for cash

management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general
ledger, billing, payroll, incentives and reimbursement, product
management and accounts keeping.

• Customer Relationship Management includes modules for

managing and nurturing a company’s interactions with customers
and sales prospects. The overall goals are to find, attract, and win
new customers, nurture and retain those the company already
has, entice former customers back into the fold, and reduce the
costs of marketing and customer service.

• Internal Communication System: includes modules for

conducting polls and surveys, an internal messenger service, and
a Forum for various discussions.

• Document Management System is used to track and store

documents in a systematic manner.

• Access Control includes management of user privileges for

various processes.

Key Steps in Project Execution:

1. Requirements: It includes gathering of requirements, analysis of

requirements, scope realization and specifications.

2. Design: It includes creating user experience design, yielding a

story board to help determine the specifications, database
designing and creating a flow chart.

3. Development: Actual development of the modules involves

coding, debugging/troubleshooting and maintaining the source
code.

4. Testing: Testing of each individual module separately to validate

and verify whether it meets the business expectations and works
as expected.

5. Deployment: It involves activities related to making the software

available to users.

Crucial Checkpoints for Progress Monitoring:

The end of each of three months of the training will be considered as

the check points for monitoring the project progression.

Deadlines:

The deadlines for each of the modules are as follows:

• Project management: 25th Feb

• Human Resource: 10th March

• Finance management: 30th April

• CRM: 15th March

• Communication: 5th April

• Document Management: 10th March

Conclusion:

The implementation of an ERP system takes a significantly longer time

and level of resources. But in the absence of an ERP system, a large
manufacturer may find itself with many software applications that
cannot communicate or interface effectively with one another. So, the
software system will require three months for its development.
