Dear esteemed colleagues,

These are 2 sample videos that can be used as a basic guideline to teaching/preparing for ELC501 forum
discussion. These are actually videos of BEL313 forum discussion recorded by a lecturer who was
teaching this code. I would like to thank Puan Sharifah Shakirah for sharing this video with me so that we
can use this as a basic guide for us and our students to prepare for the ELC501 forum discussion.

However, in making sure that the forum goes in line with ELC501s final assessment in testing students
critical reading skills ability, these are the aspects that need to be taken into consideration:

1. Students need to clearly indicate their sources of information during the forum to establish credibility of
their reading sources (As indicated in the group outline). This is to indicate how they manage knowledge
information by establishing sources and quality of knowledge obtained.
e.g: (To support their opinion on a topic being discussed)-Based on an article . ,written by..who is
a..,, I read an article by. who believes that., I obtained this information from a journal article (name
of journal)According to (an experts name) in a book (title of the book), Based on what I have read
on,This is a research done by,Alton is an expert on

2. During reaction time, other panel members can discuss the strength of a panel members argument (by
counter-arguing), validity/credibility/objectivity of reading sources used to support each members opinion,
and/or prove the validity and credibility/objectivity of their references.
e.g Could you tell us the source of this information?, May I know who the expert you mentioned is?What
is his position?,What is the source of the statistics you mentioned earlier?

Here's hoping that the assessment will go well. Thank you.
