Introduction
I learned to crochet when I was about nine years old. Ive been crocheting for myself
ever since: bags, scarves, tops. It is only when I became a mother that I started to
crochet for someone else rather than myself my girls. First, blankets, then hats,
sweaters and finally toys. Thats how this book was born.
Inside you will find patterns for the most common fruits and vegetables. These projects
are very quick and are a great way to use up yarn leftovers. If you and your kids love

everything from breakfast eggs to cakes and tea sets.

Leaves and stems:

Step 1: attach green yarn at the top of the carrot, around the 2nd round.
Step 2: chain 20

Step 4: (ch 5, beg at 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next 4 sts. Then sc in the next 5 sts of the
main chain) repeat 4 times until you get to the beg of the chain. Sl st to connect with the
carrot.
Repeat steps 1-4 to crochet 2-3 more leaves. You can use different amount of chains to
create leaves of different length.
Finally, with black embroidery thread make a few stitches on the carrot to complete the
look.
Cherry
Rnd 1: with red yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 5-6: sc in next st around
Rnd 8: sc in each st around

Step 1: attach green yarn to one of the cherries.
Step 2: ch 13, skip 1st ch, sc in next 2 ch.
Step 3: make a leaf: ch 8, skip 1st ch. Now crochet in each ch in the following order: sc,

Step 4: now crochet on the opposite side of the leaf in each ch in the following order: sc,

To make your cucumber look like its just been brought from the garden, crochet a flower
at one end of it. Here is how:
Step 1: attach yellow yarn at one end of the cucumber. Chain 7.
Step 2: sc in 3rd ch from hook. Sc in next 4 sts.
Step 3: sl st to connect to the base.
Repeat steps 1-3 three more times to make a total of 4 yellow petals.
Tomato
Rnd 1: with red yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Plum

Wrap yarn tight around the plum to create two halves in it. Fasten off.
Stem and leaf:

Step 1: attach green yarn to the top of the plum.
Step 2: ch 15, skip 1st ch. Now crochet in each ch in the following order: sl st, sc, dc in
each of the next 3 ch, tr in each of the next 5 ch, dc in each of the next 3 ch, 3 sc in the
next st.
Step 3: now crochet on the opposite side of the leaf in the following order: dc in each of
the next 3 sts, tr in each of the next 5 sts, dc in each of the next 3 sts, sc, sl st.
Step 4: crochet sl st along the center of the leaf to get to the top of the plum.
Step 5: ch 7, skip 1st ch, sc in next 6 ch. Fasten off.
Strawberry
Rnd 1: with red, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 14: (sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog) around. (12)
Rnd 15: sc in each st around. Stuff.
Leaves:
Step 1: with green, ch 2, 10 sc in second ch from hook. (10)
Step 2: (ch 5, skip 1st ch, sl st in next ch, sc in next ch, dc in each of the next 2 ch. Sl st to
connect to the ring, sl st in next st) repeat 5 times. Fasten off. Attach to the strawberry.
Step 3: with light yellow embroidery thread make a few stitches on the strawberry to
complete the look.
Orange
Rnd 1: with orange, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Stem:
Rnd 2: sc in each st around. Fasten off. Attach to the orange.
Beet-root
Rnd 1: with dark purple, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 27: (sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog) 2 times, sc next 2 sts tog. (5)
Rnd 29: sc next 2 sts tog until 1 chain left.
Crochet 7 chains. Fasten off.
Leaves:
Step 1: attach dark purple yarn to the top of the beet-root.
Step 2: (ch 26, skip 1st ch, sc in next 25 ch, sl st to connect to the beet-root) 3 times.
Step 3: switch to green and crochet around each leaf in the following order: sl st in the
next 7 sts, sc in next 5 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, 4 dc in next st, 3
tr in next 7 sts, 5 tr in next st.
Step 4: now crochet on the opposite side of the leaf in the following order: 3 tr in next 7
sts, 4 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, sc in next 5 sts, sl st in
next 7 sts.
Repeat steps 3-4 for the other two leaves. Fasten off.
Radish
Rnd 1: with pink, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Pear

Step 1: attach brown yarn to the top of the apple.

Leaf:
Step 1: ch 10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each st across. Turn.
Step 2: hdc in next st, dc in next st, tr in next 4 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts. Ch 2, sl
st in second ch from hook.
Step 3: now crochet on the opposite side of the leaf: sc in next st, hdc in next st, tr in next
3 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st. Ch 2, fasten off. Attach next
to the stem.
Grapes
Rnd 1: with purple, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 10: (sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog) 4 times, sc in next 2 sts. (10)
Make 14-18 pieces.
Grape leaf:
Step 1: ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 14 ch, 3 sc in the last ch of the row.
Step 2: now crochet on the opposite side of the chain: sc in each st but the last 2. Turn.
Step 3: sc in each st but the last 2. Turn.
Repeat step 3 until your leaf is the size you like.
Make 3-4 leaves.
Putting it all together:

Step 1: ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. This will be the cluster stem.
Step 2: ch 20, attach a grape with a sl st, sc in next 3 ch
Step 3: ch 4, attach a grape with a sl st, sc in next 4 ch.
Repeat step 3 until you attach all the grapes to the bunch. Remember to vary the number of
chains to shape the bunch.
Attach the leaves.
(Optional) As you are attaching the leaves, you may add tendrils. Ch 20-30, sc in 2nd ch
from hook and each st across. Fasten off.
Banana
Rnd 1: with light yellow, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 18-19: sc in each st around, changing to yellow in last 2 loops of last st.
Rnd 26-27: (2 sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 16 sts, sc next 3 sts tog, sc in next 3 sts. (26)
Banana peel:
Row 1: attach yellow yarn to the part where color was changed from light yellow to
yellow. Sc in each of the next 9 sts across banana. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2: skip 1st ch, sc in next 10 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3-4: sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Ch 1, turn. (8)
Row 8: sc in each st. Ch 1, turn. (4)
Row 9: sc next 2 sts tog twice. Fasten off.
Crochet three banana peels. When done with the last one, do not fasten off, sc in each st
around all three pieces.
Black tip:
Rnd 1: with black, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 3-4: sc in each st around. Fasten off. Attach to the banana.
Potato
Rnd 1: with brown, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Crochet the cross cut separately:

Rnd 1: with light yellow, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around, changing to green in last 2 loops of last st. (12)
Use slip stitches to attach both parts together. Dont forget to stuff.
Use small black beads to imitate the seeds or embroid with French knots.
Mushroom
Rnd 1: with beige (or white), ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Crochet mushrooms cap:

Rnd 10-16: sc in each st around, changing to beige (or white) in last 2 loops of last st.
The next 4 rounds work in back loops only:
Stuff both the cap and the stem and join together using the slip stitch.
Onion
Rnd 1: with brown (or ginger), ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 24: (ch 2, sc in next st) around. Fasten off. Sew opening close. (18)
Roots:
Step 1: attach beige yarn to the bottom of the bulb.
Step 2: ch 5, skip 1st ch, sc in next 4 sts. Sl st to connect to the bulb.
Make 4-5 roots.
Shoots:
Step 1: attach green yarn to the top of the bulb.
Step 2: ch 10, skip 1st ch, sc in next 9 sts. Sl st to connect to the bulb.
Vary the amount of chains to create shoots of different length.
Garlic
Rnd 1: with cream, ch 2, 5 sc in second chain from hook. (5)
Wrap yarn around the bulb a few times and tighten it to create the cloves.
Eggplant
Rnd 1: with purple, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 31: (sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next st) around. (9)
Rnd 32: (sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next st) around. Sl st in first st. Fasten off. Sew opening
close. (6)
Stem:
Rnd 16: crochet small leaves on the stem: (ch 5, skip 1st ch, sc in next 4 sts, sl st to connect
to the stem) around. Vary the amount of chains to create leaves of different length.
Attach to the eggplant.
Bean stalk
Beans:
Stalk:
Step 1: with green, ch 33.
Step 2: skip 1st ch, then crochet in each ch in the following order: 4 sc, 4 hdc, 4 dc, 3 tr, 3
dtr, 3 tr, 4 dc, 4 hdc, 3 dc. Do not turn, continue working in rounds.
Step 3: work dc in each st around (3 dc in each st at the turning point). Make a total of 4
rounds. Fasten off.
Step 4: fold this oval lengthwise. Sew the sides together (approximately 7 std on each side)
Step 5: put the beans into the stalk. You may string them onto the yarn and fix them inside.
Pumpkin
Rnd 1: with orange, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 17: (sc in next 3 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) 5 times, sc in next st. (21)

Wrap yarn around the pumpkin a few times and tighten it to create the ribs.

Attach to the pumpkin.
With green make 2-3 chains of different length to imitate tendrils.
Cabbage

Rnd 9: (sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) 7 times, sc in next st. (44)

Inner layer of leaves:

Step 1: from the bottom measure approximately 1/3 of the cabbage and attach green yarn.
Step 2: ch 10, use sl st to connect to the cabbage. Repeat 3 more times. You will have
approximately 4 loops with 10 chains in each. These will be cabbage leaves.
Step 3: do not crochet in chains, crochet in the loop: 2 sc, 8 dc, 2 sc. Repeat for each leaf
around.
Make 8-9 rounds.
Outer layer of leaves:

Step 1: attach green yarn almost at the bottom of the cabbage.

Rnd 1: with green(red, yellow or orange), ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Stem:

Watermelon whole
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around, changing to green in last 2 loops of last st. (10)

Stem:
Attach brown yarn to the top of the watermelon. Ch 15, skip 1st ch, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
Use fabric or acrylic paint to create stripes. You may also use a crayon: rub it on, then use
a scrap of cotton knit to even the color out.
Watermelon slice

Rnd 10: (sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st) around, changing to cream in last 2 loops of last

Rnd 12: (sc in next 10 sts, 2 sc in next st) around, changing to green in last 2 loops of last

Fold the circle in half and sew together. Dont forget to stuff.
Use small black beads to imitate the seeds or embroid with French knots.
Pineapple
To imitate the texture we will crochet a net for the pineapple:

Rnd 6: (ch 5, sl st in 3rd st of prev rnd) around. You will have 10 loops.
Rnd 7: sl st in next 2 ch to get to the top of the loop. (Ch 7, sl st to the top ch of the next
loop) around.
Repeat rnd 7 until the net reaches desired length.
Put the net on the pineapple when you are ready to decrease. When pineapple starts to
narrow down, decrease the amount of ch in the loop to 5, then to 4, then to 3.
Leaves:
Step 1: attach green yarn to the top of the pineapple.
Step 2: ch 16, skip 1st ch, sl st in next st, sc in next 2 sts, dc in each st across.
Step 3: now crochet on the opposite side of the leaf: dc in next 12 sts, sc in next 2 sts, sl st
in next st.
Step 4: sl st in each ch along the center of the leaf.
Vary the amount of chains in the leaf to make leaves of different length. Make 5-7 leaves.
Broccoli
Rnd 1: with light green, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 5: working in back loops only. Sc in each st around.
Rnd 24: (ch 4, sl st in 6th st from the chain) 3 times. You will have 3 loops which are going
to be broccoli stems.
Now crochet around the 1st loop: sc in each st around. Make 6 rounds. Beg with 7th rnd sc
2 sts together until you have just 1 st left. Fasten off.
Attach yarn to the next loop and follow instructions above.
Florets:
Step 1: with dark green ch 55.
Step 2: skip 1st ch, sc in next 18 ch, hdc in next 18 ch, dc in next 18 ch, ch 3, turn.
Step 3: (dc, ch 1, dc) in each st across, turn.
Step 4: ch 1, (sc in next st, ch 5, skip ch of the prev row, sc in next st) across. Fasten off.
Step 5: roll this up and attach to broccoli stems.
Cauliflower
Rnd 1: with cream, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)

Do not fasten off, leave a long piece of yarn, make random stitches all over the cauliflower
and tighten the yarn to imitate florets. Fasten off.
Leaves:
Step 1: from the bottom measure approximately 1/3 of the cauliflower and attach green
yarn.
Step 2: ch 8, use sl st to connect to the califlower. Repeat 4 more times. You will have
approximately 5 loops with 8 chains in each. These will be the cauliflower leaves.

Step 4: ch 3, work 2 dc in each 3rd st around.
Step 5: ch 3, dc in each st around.
Step 6: ch 3, (dc in next 2 sts, dc next 2 sts tog) around.

Smaller layer of leaves:

Step 1: attach green yarn almost at the bottom of the cauliflower.

Rnd 10: (sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) 13 times, sc in next st. (53)
Rnd 11: sc in next 14 sts, turn your work. Beginning with next step (row 12) crochet each
row in the opposite direction.
Row 12: sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 10 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn your work. (12)
Row 13: ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 8 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn. (10)
Row 14: ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn.(8)
Row 17: ch 1, sc in next 4 sts. Turn. (4)
Row 18: ch 1, sc in next 4 sts. Turn. (4)
Row 19: ch 1, (sc next 2 sts tog) 2 times. Fasten off. (2)
Flesh and seed:

Rnd 1: with dark green, ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook. (6)
Rnd 12: sc in next 10 sts, turn your work around. Beginning with next step crochet in
rows, not in rounds. (10)
Row 13: ch 1, sc in next 10 sts. (10)
Row 14: ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. (8)
Sew both parts together, dont forget to stuff.
Celery
First, crochet celery stalk. Make three pieces.
Rnd 3: working in back loops only. Sc in each st around. (12)
Rnd 31: sc next 2 sts tog, sl st in first st. Fasten off. (3)
This is a pattern for another(smaller) type of stalk:

Leaves:
Step 1: attach green yarn to the top of a stalk, ch 15.
Step 2: skip 1st ch, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in the last ch.
Step 3: now crochet on the opposite side of the chain: sc in each st but the last 2, turn.
Step 4: now crochet in the opposite direction: sc in each st along one side of the leaf, 3 sc
in the top st, then sc in each st but the last 2 of the opposite side, turn. Repeat, until the leaf
is the size you like. Fasten off.
Crochet 4-5 leaves on each stalk.
