Upgrade Gage Operating software using Gageview

35 and MG2 and 38DL PLUS series Gages

Warning: You should upload any stored thickness data you wish to save from your instrument before
performing the upgrade as a precaution.

1. Download the Current Software bin file for the specific gage and save them to a new folder on your hard
drive. If the files have been zipped then unzip them to the same folder.

35 series: (two files) (exact revision number may vary as software is updated)

Note: Make sure the PC Program is set to Gageview in the Setup Communication tabs.

MG2 Series: (two files)

mg2_113.bin
mon55_101u.bin

38DL PLUS: (four files)

38_105.bin
fpga38_15.bin

mon38_101d.bin

2. Start Gageview.

3. Connect your MG2, 35 or 38DL PLUS to your PC using a USB cable and turn the unit on.

4. Click on Device
Configure and the Device Configuration dialog box will open.

5. Select the Gage corresponding gage from the device list and Click on the Add button to move it to the
Current Configured Devices box then Click OK

 6) Click on Device
Tools and the device tools dialog box opens Click on Upgrade Device Software in
the Device tool selection box

Note: for the 38DL PLUS it will be necessary to turn the 38DL PLUS off and restart it in Monitor mode and
reinitialize the connection. This is not necessary for the MG2 and 35 series instruments.

For starting the 38DL PLUS in monitor mode follow the step in the right side of the dialog box.

7) Click the New Bin Files button this will bring up a Browse for folder box. Navigate to the directory
(Folder) where the Gage Operating Bin Files are located. Note you will not need to click on new bin
file to upgrade a second instrument because the bin file will already have been copied to the correct
directory.

Click OK in this popup box and the program will prompt that Files have been copied.

10. Click the Upgrade button, then click OK button in the warning box

11. The upgrade process will start and the progress will display in the bar

12. Wait till the process is complete and the progress bar is full - a note Send complete will be
displayed, only then click the exit button

13) Turn the unit off then back on.
