Abstract
An efficient and reproducible protocol for micropropagation of Salvadora oleoides Decne has
been standardized. Seeds were germinated on half strength MS medium. Cotyledonary node
explants (5-7 mm long) excised from 12-15 days old aseptically grown seedlings were cultured
on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations of cytokinins alone and in
combination with auxins. Maximum shoot proliferation from single explant was obtained on
MS medium fortified with 4.0 mg/1 BAP and 0.5 mg/1 NAA. In vitro regenerated shoots
induced roots on MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/1 NAA. The regenerants were
transferred to field conditions after acclimatization with 80% survival rate.
