Design And Function SKV(G)-A
SKV-A for liquid fuels (heavy oil, MDO, light oil); a special variant for marine plants is
also available
SG-A for gaseous fuels (natural gas, town gas, propane gas)
SKVG-A ("dual-fuel burners") for all the fuels listed above.
The burners of this series are available as dual fuel burners (with integrated fan) and as
1
duoblock burners (with external fan) .
They are used in shell boilers (three-pass boilers), water-tube boilers, marine boilers,
thermal oil boilers and hot gas generators.
Rotary cup atomizer with integrated center valve (safety shut-off device, only SKV-A
and SKVG-A), can optionally be swung open to the left or right
Air register with adjustable secondary air annulus for adaptation to the plant
conditions;
for the SG-A and SKVG-A types with Low-NOx gas mixing system including
replaceable primary and secondary gas nozzles.
Central windbox with variable air intake position
Oil fittings block with solenoid oil valve (safety shut-off device), oil flow meter, oil
pressure controller (only SKV-A and SKVG-A)
Compound regulation
Mechanical compound regulator with servomotor
Electronic compound regulation for the direct control of the flow meters and
control dampers via servomotors, control of the servomotors via the external
burner control system (e.g. SAACKE se@vis firing management system)
Fan (10), optionally with intake silencer
For compact burners: Integrated high-performance radial fan especially adapted
to the burner.
For duoblock burners: External fan
Igniter with ignition valve block
Optionally gas igniter SAACKE ZGE36 or light oil igniter SAACKE ZLE52.
Flame detection system for 72-h operation without supervision, optionally with single
or double flame scanner
Component connection box
Emergency operation box (only for the variant for marine plants)
1
Sizes 46 and 152 are available as duoblock burners only.

SKV(G)-A Design And Function
Safety Equipment
Burners of the SKV(G)-A series feature safety equipment for constantly monitoring
all the important functions and for preventing incorrect operation:
Flame scanner(s) for monitoring the ignition flame and the main flame
Pressure monitor for monitoring the fan function, switches off the burner as
soon as the pressure drops below the set value
Differential pressure monitor for monitoring the integrated primary air fan and
the rotary cup atomizer rotation, switches off the burner as soon as the
pressure drops below the set value (SKV-A and SKVG-A only)
Temperature monitor for heavy oil for monitoring the oil temperature,
switches off the burner as soon as the temperature drops below or exceeds
the set value (SKV-A and SKVG-A only)
Optional oil pressure monitor for monitoring the controlled oil pressure,
switches off the burner as soon as the pressure exceeds the set value
(SKV-A and SKVG-A only)
Optional temperature monitor for combustion air, automatically switches on
the combustion air fan as soon as the air temperature in the burner clearly
exceeds 45 C (e.g. due to a return flow of combustion air from the heat
generator when the pressure in the machine room is low).
Swing-out switch, switches off the burner when the rotary cup atomizer
swings open (only SKV-A and SKVG-A)

Burner Selection SKV(G)-A
The starting point is the full load (in the example: 8.9 MW) intended for your burner
on axis "B".
The second variable is the static furnace back pressure of your heat generator
(in the example: 12 mbar) on axis "A".
The point, at which the two lines meet is what is generally referred to as the
operating point. In the present example, the operating point is in the "82-22" field.

Example:
The values for the flame tube diameter and flame tube length selected in the
present example are inside or above the ranges (1) and (2).

For all the work described in the following, always follow the instructions and safety
instructions in the chapter "Transport, Storage and Packaging" before starting with
any of the tasks described here!
When handling sealing cords or fiber plates, wear appropriate protective clothing
(to protect your throat and wrists, loosely fitting overalls, gloves, safety goggles
with side shields, FFP2 respirators).

SKV(G)-A Mounting Instructions
To mount the burner, the heat generator must be equipped with a burner mounting
plate (refer to the chapter on "Dimensions / Types") and with refractory brickwork
(refer to chapter "Construction of Refractory Brickwork").
Before mounting the burner, apply sealing cord to the burner mounting plate.
Position the burner in the intended mounting position using hoisting gear (refer to
the figure below).

Fasten the burner to the stud screws (accessible through the mounting openings,
refer to the detail in the previous figure) using nuts and washers.
Note
Perform this step at both the mounting openings.
Part of the burner has been fastened with screws no and you can perform the
following steps.
Swing out the rotary cup atomizer 22 (see chapter Maintenance / Cleaning).
Now you can access the fastening screws (A) of the air register that are
covered when the rotary cup atomizer22 is swung shut.

Also remove all the other components (e.g. lines, cables) that could be damaged
when swinging the air register out.
Swing out the air register connected to the rotary cup atomizer22.
Now all the stud screws of the burner mounting plate are readily accessible.

Mount the silencer (if included in the scope of delivery) at the fan inlet (refer to the
following chapter)
Connect the burner to the electric system (refer to chapter "Electrical Connections")
Caution!
Pressure loss is possible in oil-firing operation with models
SKV-A and SKVG-A!
Inlet P (see following figure) must run parallel to the central windbox! Otherwise this
might cause a loss of pressure in the main fuel feed to the burner.

Note
The silencer is an optional burner component and will be included in the scope of
delivery only when it has been ordered.
Caution!
The silencer side with the rounded end of the inner part (refer to B in the figure

SKV(G)-A Mounting Instructions
It must be mounted on the inflow side. If this is not the case, you have to mount the
protective grating on the other side. The flange dimensions on either side are
identical. Proceed as follows:
Once the protective grating has been mounted on the correct side, you can mount
the silencer on the fan. The stud screws on the fan have been provided for this
purpose.
Mount the silencer on the fan stud screws provided for this purpose.
Note
An additional support for the silencer is not required.
Caution!
The second silencer element requires an additional support. The customer must
install the support (B) on the floor or on the boiler. The support should be at a
distance of approx. 100-300 mm from the front edge of the silencer.
The silencer side with the rounded end of the inner part is the inlet side. Only one
protective grating is required.
A047
Fig. 33: Model AH silencer with protective grating (A)
Check which side the protective grating has been mounted on.
It must be mounted on the inlet side. If this is not the case, you have to mount the
protective grating on the other side (for a description, please refer to chapter 7.2.1).
Mount the double silencer on the fan stud screws provided for this purpose.

8.1.1 Explanations of How to Connect the Heaters for Heavy Oil Firing Operation Mode
The double temperature monitor 18 A 1 features two switching contacts ((L) and
(H)). It must interact with the burner control system in such a way that switching
contact (L) disables heaters 5 E 2 and 5 E 3 as soon as the set switch point has
been reached.
Heaters 5 E 5 and 5 E 6 must be controlled by the burner control system such that
they are active only during the purge phase.
