1. La verdadera red terrorista: terrorismo en hechos y

propaganda de Edward Herman
Este libro facilita la comprensin de las cuestiones relacionadas con el
terrorismo y los derechos humanos, en especfico en la era posterior a
la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Herman, anteriormente profesor de finanzas
y coautor con Noam Chomsky, cubre un amplio espectro de temas
terroristas que van desde la propaganda hasta las injusticias. Educa al
lector dando una comprensin de los estados de Seguridad Nacional en
un contexto principalmente latinoamericano, donde Estados Unidos est
muy interesado.

Herman destaca que, desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el crecimiento

del terrorismo por parte de los estados ha aumentado enormemente
y que el terrorismo llevado a cabo por individuos particulares ha
disminuido. Adems, lo que se pone de manifiesto es que el terrorismo
es necesario para llevar a cabo las iniciativas del estado de Seguridad
Nacional, que incluye la prevencin de la autodeterminacin de los pases
empobrecidos.

2. Los instrumentos de la formacin del Estado (1940-

1990) de Michael McClintock
En su libro, McClintock explica, desde su punto de vista, cmo la CIA ha
respaldado durante mucho tiempo a sus aliados
anticomunistas. Estos, tanto cuando tenan esta relacin con la CIA o
despus de ello, traficaban con droga. Desde los aos sesenta, los

3. ltimas Reflexiones sobre una guerra (1967),

de Bernard B. Fall, publicado despus de su muerte
Noam Chomsky lo ha llamado el analista ms respetado y comentarista
en la guerra de Vietnam. Estas son sus ltimas reflexiones sobre una
guerra que se presenta como una muestra representativa de la obra de
Fall en su conjunto; como tal, es casi tan personal como una

5. Derecha: la decadencia de los demcratas y el futuro

de la poltica estadounidense de Thomas Ferguson y
Joel Rogers
Esta es una secuela de la antologa de estudios de Ferguson y Rogers que
estudiaron las elecciones presidenciales estadounidenses de 1980 (The
Hidden Election). Este nuevo estudio se centra tanto en el sistema
electoral del partido en el pasado como en el de su futuro

7. Enfrentando el Tercer Mundo: poltica exterior de los

Estados Unidos, 1945-1980 de Gabriel Kolko
Kolko, autor de ocho libros sobre la historia americana moderna, examina
aqu la involucracin de los Estados Unidos con los pases del Tercer
Mundo. Su principal objetivo es que Estados Unidos mantuviera en
Centroamrica y creara en Oriente Medio un imperio basado en ventajas
econmicas e ideolgicamente apoyado por el anticomunismo. El
resultado fue que Estados Unidos se extendi ms all de sus vastos
recursos y apoy a pequeos tiranos, la guerra de Vietnam y fracasos
catastrficos como Irn. Este libro es esencialmente una crtica
contundente de la poltica estadounidense y una advertencia para tratar
