3) RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This research work was designed to examine the impact of teamwork on employees
performance. This section deals with the methodology adopted for the study under the following
headings.

3.1 RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY:

This research is based on philosophy of Positivism. As positivism described by (Creswel, 2009)
that anything which is authentic and accuracy of results is ensured and encompasses collection of
information based on natural phenomena, So we had adopted philosophy of positivism in this
research and the impact of teamwork on employees performance has been tested with this
philosophy, the certainty of knowledge in this study is ensured by the information which was
gathered through surveys.

3.2 RESEARCH DESIGN:

As the research was conducted with an aim to gain comprehensive insight understanding and
evaluating the impact of teamwork on employee performance in public higher education sector
of Karachi, so these objectives leads to causal research design for the studys the causal research
examines the impact of independent variables on dependent variables and encompass cause and
effect relationship among the variables (Williams, 2007).This research design focus on two
categories that is team trust and team reward and recognition with in the independent variables
that is teamwork and its impact on dependent variable that is employee performance.

3.3 DATA SOURCE:

This study was accompanied to investigate the effect of teamwork on employee performance.
Questionnaires were circulated for data collection among the Higher Education Sector in medical
colleges. In this study data was gathered through primary sources. According to (bartlett & kang,
2004) primary data source are the data which the researcher collects through various methods
like interviews, surveys, questionnaires etc.

3.4 DATA COLLECTION METHOD:

A well-designed close ended structured survey questions was used to gather primary data. The
questionnaire was prudently created and properly setup. Questionnaire is grounded on five points
Likert scale method for collection of data. Questionnaire was designed into three parts, first part
entails the demographic factors of employees, however second part involves questions that
linked to independent variables i.e. teamwork & in which sub variables were (team trust and
team rewards and recognition while Part threes focuses questions related to dependent variable
i.e. employee performance.

3.5 SAMPLE SIZE:

The population for the study is restricted to the top ranking public medical university of Karachi
recognized by HEC, therefore we adopted non probabilistic sampling technique. Our population
size is short that is 75 so we circulated questionnaires among all of them and out of which 70
were filled and returned back to us.
3.6 STATISTICAL TOOLS AND TECHNIQUE:
The data was analyzed through SPSS (statistical package for social science) version 22 to get
empirical test results. Over those statistical analyses, correlation, regression of teamwork, trust,
rewards and recognition and employee performance has been measured. This statistical tools and
technique is easy to gather data for preparation and sophisticated to provide research analysis.

3.7 THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK:
