On occasions such as this, our pious predecessors had three standard practices.
1. Zikr
2. Tilawat (recitation) of the Qur’an
3. Nafl Salah
“I seek pardon from God and ask for penitence from Him”.
Before starting your Tilawat, open the Qur’an and pray for your needs with the
intercession of the Qur’an.
The Holy Qur’an should be opened and placed in front, then one should
recite:
“O Allah treat me as one of those who are free from Hell, in the name of this
Holy Book sent by Thee, whatever there be in the Book. Including Ism-e-
A'azam and Asmaa-e-Husnaa and the things to be dreaded, the things that
may be expected and desired, like blessings of Jannah. Do forgive through
the grace of this book.”
[subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala]
(SALAWAT - After this one may beg from Allah whatever one
wants).
One should place the Holy Qur’an on their head and say:
“O Allah! I appeal to Thee in the name of this Qur'an and the Rooh that was
sent along with it, and in the name of the Momin (believer) whose praise is
contained in this Book and Tine obligation that is on them. No one else
recognizes the right and truth more than Thee.”
While placing the Qur’an on the head. Remind yourself that true salvation can
only be achieved by always keeping the rules of Qur’an ahead of us to follow.
The fact that we put the Qur’an on our head is a sign of respect and reverence.
We beseech Allah by the thaqalayn - The speaking and the silent Qur'an. [V
39:56]
(SALAWAT - After this one may beg from Allah swt whatever one wants).
Also, women that are menstruating (on their periods) should not feel they
can not take part. Do wudhu and read thasbi (with SubhanAllah,
Alhamdulillah, Allahu’Akbar, Astaghfirullah, La’illaha IllAllah, etc) and certain
duroods for as long as you can till Fajr. (We are awaiting for response from
Imaams on which duroods women can/can not read during menses, which
we will foreword to yourselves when we obtain this. Please feel free to email
us that which you know of on ilm.pursuit@hotmail.co.uk, JazakAllah Khairun).
In each raka’, after Surah Al-Fatiha, recite Surah Qadr once and Surah
Ikhlas fifteen times. After salah recite any Istaghfar 70 times.

Almighty will pardon them and their parents, and Allah Almighty will
Command the angels to adorn the Paradise for them and it is said that

their own eyes.

religious, may be pleased. Allah Willing (Insha’Allah), their supplication
will be fulfilled.
May Allah give us all the tawfiq to take full advantage of the blessed night of Al-
Qadr forgiving us of all our sins. May Allah help us to purify our hearts,
strengthen our faith, and enable us to meet every challenge, and overcome
every difficulty in our lives. May Allah allow us to serve Him with sincerity in our
work, study, professional, business, family and social lives, and when the time
comes for us finally to return to Him, may Allah admit us to the companionship of
those whom He loves. Ameen.
