Professional Practice 2
Differentiation strategies:
Introduction of lesson with YouTube clip used to engage and introduce the topic that is
visually appealing and enjoyable for all students
Different text types will be used to cater to the various learning styles of the students
Scaffolding of lesson to introduce concept and showing different examples relating to the
real world and what we can see
Modelling how to make the day time poster
Assisting the students when making the poster as needed. Ensure they have input into how
they would like to make their creation.
Evaluation:
The lesson went really well the students loved the YouTube song and asked for me to play it
again. The song also related well to what I was trying to focus on teaching and peaked the
students interest.
Most of the students enjoyed the activity and there was opportunities to make the posters
unique as the students chose how they wanted it to look.
As there was only a few students at a time completing the poster there was ample time to
record the language used and answers given from question asked into the assessment
checklist
Reflection:
Next time I would be more selective of which students to pick at the same time. Some
students needed minimal help while others had to be guided, refocused and prompted at
each stage. I could either have 2 higher ability at the same time, 1 lower ability at a time or 1
higher/lower ability at a time.
Notes:
Follow up lesson at the end of the day show poster and get students to answer questions
and discuss what they have learnt
Poster will be kept to compare what we can see in the day and night time also will be
glued into students scrapbook portfolio
