Flood Insurance Renewal: The House


Y Y N N N voted, 237-189, to renew the National Flood
Insurance Program through 2022 with terms
that allow private-sector competition, permit
businesses to leave the program and require
premium hikes of 6.5 percent annually. A yes
vote was to pass HR 2874.
Hurricane Sandy Claims: The House
N N Y Y Y rejected, 190-236, a bid by Democrats to
shelve HR 2874 (above) until the Department
of Homeland Security and Federal
Emergency Management Agency certify that
thousands of disaster claims from Hurricane
Sandy in 2005 have been resolved.
$700 Billion for Military: The House
Y Y Y N Y adopted, 356-70, the conference report on a
$700 billion military budget for fiscal 2018 that
provides $66 billion for combat, funds a 2.4
percent pay raise for uniformed personnel
and officially declares climate change a global
security threat. (HR 2810)
Bill to Protect Dreamers: The House
Y Y N N N blocked, 234-189, a Democratic bid to force
floor debate on a bill that would grant
permanent legal status to the so-called
dreamers brought illegally to America as
children. A yes vote was in opposition to
bringing HR 3440 to the floor for debate.
Steven Bradbury Confirmation: The Senate
N N confirmed, 50-47, Steven G. Bradbury as
Department of Transportation general
counsel. A yes vote backed Bradbury, a D.C
lawyer, over criticism of his legal writings in
the George W. Bush administration to justify
the torture of detainees.
