Managing and implementing learning was the most aspect I think that I have succeeded with.
This is because, I simply directed the students on how to have an excellent piece of writing by
showing them some steps they need to follow. In addition, I showed the students three different
samples of writing pieces that are considered to be high, medium and low quality. Toe elaborate,
students had an overview about what important aspects they need to have in order to get a high
grade. Therefore, students had to share their opinions on the three samples they saw and provide a
reason that supports their opinions. Such thing made the students identify and know what are the
mistakes they need to avoid in order to get a high grade. Finally, at the end of the lesson students
were asked whether their writing piece would be outstanding. Many students said that their paper
will be outstanding because they followed the aspects that were mentioned throughout the lesson
and they avoided doing the things that could lead them to a satisfactory grade.
In my opinion, I would share with other teachers that in order to make students understand
the goal or aim of the lesson, directions and instructions must be clearly announced in order to
ensure that students are on the right track. In addition, providing samples of real work would
benefit the students because, they will be encouraged and willed to have a better piece of writing
than the samples that they saw.
Whereas, monitoring and assessment is the aspect that requires attention and improvements.
This is because, students I didnt check students understanding properly and just asked them to
reason why do they think that their writing is outstanding. Assessing students is an important
aspect that needs to be enhanced, because it shows the teacher whether the students grasped the
concept behind the lesson that was delivered.
In my future lesson, I will ensure that I am careful with assessing students understanding
and ask questions that requires students to think deeply and move a step further with their thinking
level.
