Aegis Plus is a new generation of ring main unit
designed for secondary distribution networks
up to 24kV. This range is available in indoor and
outdoor formats to suit various application needs,
and it offers high levels of reliability, personnel
safety and maintenance free operation.

12kV, 17.5kV and 24kV with up to 630A ratings
Non-extensible range
3 and 4 functions in a single SF6 insulated stainless
steel tank
No on-site SF6 gas handling for installation

Protection options
Aegis Plus can be fitted with a host of
optional accessories including advanced
circuit breaker protection devices. A range
of self-powered relays and time limit fuses
(TLF) are available to provide greater fault
protection and preservation of network assets.

Protection relay:
Woodward WIP1 relays offered as standard, other
suppliers available on request
Offers advanced protection solutions with DMT and
IDMT curves
Protects the transformer from short circuit, overload
and earth faults
Available in self powered and dual powered formats WIP1 relay

Automation ready
Aegis Plus can be configured with the next-
generation Gemini 3 RTU. This is an all new,
highly flexible, general-purpose Remote
Terminal Unit designed to remotely
monitor and control medium/high voltage
switchgear.

The GEMINI 3 has a modular design such General features:

that it can be configured from a very
simple monitoring device through to a
sophisticated multi switch control unit.
It can be set up with a high input count
of analogue and digital signals as well as
secure switchgear
control outputs.
There are several modules currently
available in the Gemini 3 RTU:
Master Control Module (MCM) Contains the
main processor and supervises all modules. The
MCM handles the protocol communications.
Switch Control Module (SCM) Provides the
inputs and outputs to perform secure controls.
This allows one switch to be controlled but additional
modules can be added to increase the number of
controlled switches.

Integrated design
The Gemini 3 RTU is an optional feature in Aegis Plus,
integrated neatly in the upper section of the unit
(factory fitted). This eliminates the need for an additional
exterior control box and associated cabling on site.

Power Supply Module (PSM) Works with the Switch

Control Module to provide secure switching operations.
The PSM generates regulated power to all other modules
and external communication equipment. The PSM also
provides the intelligent battery charging function for the
RTU to maintain a secure supply.

Input Output Module (IOM) General purpose

module that covers digital and analogue inputs and
relay outputs.

Fault Passage Module (FPM) Dual fault passage

indicator module which detects and alarms for
Overcurrent and Earth Faults.

Human Machine Interface (HMI) Allows local

control and monitoring without the need for a
computer. An LCD screen displays site information
and can be customised by the user.
