ICT in Education Research Assistant

Description:

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is the leading source of multilateral financing for regional
development in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy
advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing member countries. The
IDB is currently looking for an ICT in Education Research Assistant to join the Education Division,
specifically to be a part of the ICT in Education team.

The ICT in Education team provides technical and financial assistance to countries in the region carrying
out ICT in Education projects including: one –to-one computing, 21st Century skills, digital content and
Regional Education Web portals. Research and dissemination of knowledge products are geared to fill the
knowledge gap on successful and effective ICT in education projects.

In cooperation with other international agencies the IDB is currently carrying out research to measure ICT
performance and effectiveness in education, specifically in one-to-one computing initiatives in the region.
The Inter American Development Bank has the opportunity to provide Latin America and Caribbean
countries with knowledge products that will serve as a framework in the design of ICT for Education,
especially one-to-one computing programs that are aimed at improving educational processes.
The ICT in Education team seeks an ICT in Education Research Assistant to be based in our
Washington, DC office. The ICT in Education Research Assistant will report directly to Eugenio Severin
(Senior Education Specialist). The ideal candidate will be able to grasp complex ICT in Education studies
and evaluations and distill them into clear and accessible written material.

The position is an exciting opportunity for a talented researcher/writer who can transition easily from
detailed research study writing to the exposition of broader concepts, themes, and goals across a
combination of online and print projects.
Responsibilities:
 Write and package materials including periodic project and program reports (and possibly targeted
newsletters) that highlight the project’s progress and accomplishments, short publications, paper
and on-line versions updates, opinion pieces and editing reports and briefing papers.
 Conduct research and technical analyses of current trends in the field of ICT in Education.
 Lead or participate in the origination and preparation of research papers for the ICT and Education
team.
 Provide input for the preparation of country strategies in the area of ICT in Education.
Qualifications:
 University degree and extensive experience in research and technical writing.
 Experience and passionate interest in Information, and Communications Technology in Education
(Experience in project evaluation is preferred).
 Completely bilingual in English‐Spanish and excellent writing skills in both languages.
 Experience developing content for professional website.
 Ability to synthesize information into clear, concise copy and to alter writing style depending on
the audience.
 Attention to detail, as well as an ability to handle multiple, detail-oriented tasks in a high-energy
environment.
 Strong time management and organizational skills.
 Creativity to ensure the greatest impact possible with limited resources.
 Intensive dedication and motivation throughout the period of the contract.
