CONSCIENCE
- Is when we feel guilty doing something wrong or for not doing what is right
- we are nurtured and helped to grow and mature
- is also shaped or formed by different factors that we encounter : FAMILY, FRIENDS WE GROW
WITH, LARGER SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE COMMUNITY
ENLIGHTENED and INFORMED
- we judge goodness and evil of a human act according to what is objectively good or evil
- our conscience is guided by basic and essential values protected by laws that direct our
relationships and by the person, teachings and life of jesus, our moral norm
ERRONEOUS CONSCIENCE
- we mistakenly judge something that is really evil to be good or something good to be evil

LEVELS OF CONSCIENCE
1. INSTINCTIVE a persons act or decisions is not based on the objective good or bad but is
motivated by the FEAR OF PUNISHMENT and the DESIRE TO BE REWARDED
2. MORAL OR ETHICAL STAGE- acts based on values
3. CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS LEVEL we see cheating or any wrongdoing as an act against the Triune
God who calls us to become truly and fully human

WAYS OF FORMING OUR MINDS


read and study the bible
consulting or asking parents, teachers and counselors
learning from the experiences and reflections of friends
studying moral teachings and principles of our society
WAYS OF FORMING OUR HEARTS
spending moments alone in quiet, personal prayer and reflection
attending and participating in the Eucharistic liturgy
joining reflection sessions
receiving the holy sacrament

CHRISTIAN
- one who professes belief in jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the teachings of

- Christians are men and women who are baptized in the faith that jesus Christ is the son of god

1. By giving reasons for acting in a Christian Way jesus is the light tat illumines our conscience
with the truth, so we can judge what is gods will, what is good, pleasing and perfect
2. By developing the attitudes and disposition of Christ we honor mary and the saints for their
heroic virtues. Christ like attitude
3. By inspiring Christ like affections the Christ of the gospel naturally attracts us

- It says the love is god. Everyone wo knows god, knows love. Anyone wo doesnt know love,
doesnt know god.

SENSE OF SIN
- Without a sense of sin, it would be impossible to appreciate how jesus, the son of god and a
member of the human race by his death redeemed us through his victory over death and sin

RELIGIOUS INDIFFERENCE
- a loss of a sense of sin leads to religious indifference, it weakens the whole of Christian life. The
greater an individual has developed a sense of sin, combined with a sense of loving mercy

Original sin can be described as a state in which we are born as a members of the human race.
We are situated in a sinful society that affects our capacity to love god
Actual / Personal sin it is an individual free choice give into self centered tendencies. Have
personal repercussion
Social sins refers to negative moral attitude and acts or failure to attitude act that are
common in a community. Lacking into moral acts
Structural sins existing structure that condition society in a harmful way reformed in a long
tedious process

ACCORDING TO GRAVITY
Venial sins sin which do not involve persons fundamental freedom. It harms our relationship
with god and others
Mortal sins sins which lead to death. The loss of true/ eternal life
