Learn the Colours:

Primary Colours: Red, Blue and Yellow

Red, yellow, and blue are primary colors. They are the
three pigment colors that cannot be made by mixing any
other colors. These three colors are mixed to create all
other colors and can be combined with white or black to
create tints (lighter tones) and shades (darker hues) of
these colors.
Secondary Colours:
Green – (Blue + Yellow)
Violet – (Red + Blue)
Orange – (Red + Yellow)

A secondary color is a color made by mixing two primary

colors together: red and yellow to get orange, yellow and
blue to get green, or red and blue to get purple. The
secondary color depends on the proportion in which you
mix the two primaries. For example, if you add more red
than yellow, you get a reddish orange, and if you add
more yellow than red, you get a yellowish orange.
Secondary colours are also called Complimentary
colours.

Tertiary Colours:
Teritary colours are combination of Primary and
Secondary colours. There are six tertiary colours.
Red-Orange
Red - Violet
Yellow-Orange
Yellow - green
Blue –Green
Blue – Violet

Basic Colour Terms:

Hue – Original colours in undiluted form.

Color - Any color.

Saturation - Brightness of a color.

Value - Lightness and darkness of a color.

Brilliance - Lightness of a color.

Creating Tints and Shades:
Tint - A lighter shade of the colour. It comes with the presence of white.
Sky blue is the tint of dark blue and Grey is the tint of black.

Shade - A darker shade of the colour. It comes with the presence of

black. Bottle green is the shade of green.

Tint: Blue + White

Shade: Green + Black
