The 7 Steps of A Criminal Trial

The 7 steps of a criminal trial are as follows:

I) The first is Voir Dire.

II) Following this are the Opening Statements.

III) Afterwards is the Prosecution's Case,

IV) with the Closing Arguments/Instructions occurring at the close of the case.

V) Jury Deliberations are 5th and they occur directly after the closing arguments

VI) The Judge then moves on and addresses the Sentencing stage.

VII) Appeals follow the end of sentencing and can vary in the amount of time they take

to be actually occur.
