1.3.1 Start-up Procedure All piping and instrument are completed as P&ID Ensure functionality of control valves, controllers, emergency shutdown system, etc. Conveying raw materials into storage TK-101 by using truck Turn on conveyor with set point operation Turn on blower K-101 with set point operation Turn on rotary dryer D-101 and make sure indirect contact between small sized EFB and hot air happen at specified time Turn on conveyor Turn on pump to pump out diesel fuel to combustor Turn on blower with set point operation Turn on the conveyor inside combustor while ignition and combustion will take place on it Circulating close cycle water Turn on pump and make sure heat exchange contact in exchanger As the initial operation, once the raw material are fed into the plant-usually at reduced rate until there will establish composition as needed. As each selection is started up, we have to eastablish as quickly as possible that process conditions are as expected. If potentially serious problems develop, there should be no hesitation on going into an emergency shutdown. The supply of the feed should not exceeded the capacity. The speed of conveyor ought to be set before. Actually the plant is brought slowly to design feed-rates and operating conditions. Furthermore, plant and laboratory data are now being collected and should be being evaluated promptly. In terms of coordination adn supervision during startup, additional personnel, both supervisory and on the-ground are required at this stage. Cooperation between startup personnel and plant supervisory is critical at this stage; need a daily meeting at elast and often a briefing each shift. One thing that we should notice is about troubleshooting. During startup, there may occur troubleshooting. At this stage, many problems with equipment of the process itself may become apparent.
1.3.2 Manually Initiated Shutdown for Maintenance
The maintenance by shutdowning the plan is obviously required. Shutdown of certain major equipment would call for a total plant shutdown for the whole facilities. The majors are gas turbine, combustor, and generator. These three major equipments will affect others. The procedure is : Press STOP push button heat source valve closes Control system waiting for power to reduce By-pass valve opens, main breaker disconnects Turbine speed decreases to 100 rpm, timer starts Control, feed conveyor stop after 6 minutes
1.3.3 Emergency Shutdown Procedure
Total process shutdown would close down entire this biomass-based power generation plant. Internationally recognized standards such as ANSI/ISA S84.01 and IEC61508 serve as guidelines to insure proper instrumentation is in place to mitigate or avoid hazardous situations in case it happen so we have to shutdown the system. In order to meet these requirements, exceptional equipment availability, reliability, experience, and record of accomplishment are required. A total process shutdown can be initiated by the following: Heat source valve, turbine main valve, all injection valves close Main circuit breaker opens By-pass valve opens Turbine speed decreases Turbine working hours meter stops Turn off conveyor Turn off blower Feed stops
