ABSTRACT
Neurolinguistic Programming has been well received in the most diverse areas for its
practical aspect, by focusing on effective results and for qualifying verbal and non-
verbal human communication. In that sense, NLP presents itself as an important tool
for the Police Negotiator technical improvement in crisis management involving
hostages, regardless of empirical measures, based on police amateurism while
solving more complex crime occurrences. From this context, the present work
proposes to demonstrate how NLP can enrich the knowledge about the persuasive
communication in the Police Negotiation with the Causative agent of a critical event.
Thus, a study was first carried out on the Crisis Management Doctrine so that later
on some NLP tools applicable in the negotiation process could be listed. In order to
do so, based on a qualitative approach, a monographic work of exploratory and
bibliographic nature was carried out, together with an interview where a PMAP
negotiator was asked about the applicability of NLP in the negotiation. All that
analysis contributed to affirm that NLP presents excellent tools that can be applied in
police negotiation, enabling peaceful solutions for any sort of crisis.
