Timing belt: removal/installation

General
Before disconnecting the battery cable, check the audio system security code
Always check the timing marks before timing belt removal

Removal
Remove the ignition coil cover
Remove the ignition coil
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the timing belt upper cover
Turn the tensioner anti-clockwise to release the tension
Fit the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Remove the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt tensioner pulley
Align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and timing cover

Remove the crankshaft pulley

Remove the timing belt lower cover

Removal
Remove the ignition coil cover
Remove

engine/gearbox attaching bolt
Remove the cylinder head cover
Fit the flywheel locking tool (KM-6625)
Remove the timing belt upper cover
Turn the tensioner anti-clockwise to release the tension
Fit the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Remove the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt tensioner pulley
Align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and timing cover

Fit the camshaft timing tool (2.000.012.000)

Remove the ignition coil cover
Remove the ignition coil

Lock the camshaft

Remove the timing belt upper cover
Turn the tensioner anti-clockwise to release the tension
Fit the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Remove the locking pin

Align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and timing cover

Remove the ignition coil cover
Remove the ignition coil
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the timing belt upper cover
Fit the idler pulley
Turn the tensioner anti-clockwise to release the tension
use new bolt(s) (25 Nm)
Fit the locking pin
Check the crankshaft timing marks
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Remove the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt tensioner pulley
Align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and timing cover

use new bolt(s) (95 Nm + 30 + 15)
Remove the flywheel locking tool (2.000.012.800)
Turn the engine 2 rotations clockwise
Turn the camshaft to TDC for cylinder 1

Remove the ignition coil
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the timing belt upper cover
Turn the tensioner anti-clockwise to release the tension
Fit the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Remove the

Idler pulley:
use new bolt(s) (25 Nm)
Engine/gearbox attaching bolt: (60 12 Nm)

Remove the timing belt upper cover
Turn the tensioner anti-clockwise to release the tension
Fit the locking pin
Remove the ancillary drive belt
