Where do I start

dont do crucible (pvp) should really start doing it at around 260. If you must just do the 2 games
to unlock it or something.

Never hold on to engrams. Exotic or Legendary, go and open them up straight away to boost
your light level. No point holding them because they are locked to the level you found them,
they don't scale. The higher your light level the higher the gear you will find. You will stop finding
higher gear around 270 and all drops will be around that level.

when you reach max money 999999 go to the mod guy and buy blue mods off him, I usually buy
quite a few because you get money quick but dont go crazy, like buy 8-10. This will be useful
later and the best use of your money since at 280 you can craft purple mods by using 3 blue ones
which boost your gear light level by 5 and have different effects. Essential for boosting your light
level later since gear will not drop higher then 270 as i mentioned previously.

When you salvage blues and pick up materials or even get tokens from event drops. Hold on to
absolutely all of it until 260. Once you've hit that level go hand in everything everywhere. These
materials whether it be the gunsmith parts for the mod guy or tokens for a planet, go hand them
all in. Every time your reputation goes up you get a legendary. Equip it to raise your light level
(although i think you dont have to as long as it's in your inventory the game will calculate the
highest potential number you can be and drop gear based on that). Handing in everything should
get you close to 270, where handing in from that point onwards will never drop gear higher then
that number.

Play the game normally until 260 ideally 265. Dont fuse anything and just hold out until 265.
Farm Heroic events it's the best way to find gear.

Once at 265, Ideally you want to always activate a Fireteam medalian. When you get the 3 bright
engrams that give you cosmetics basically you get some currency that allows you to buy a medal
off her at the bottom right. It's the purple one. This boosts your xp (kinda useless) and loot find
(what we want) for 4 hours. Use these when farming heroic events. You can stack this 2x with
one other person in your fireteam to increase your xp and chances to find loot further. Farming
heroic events with a 2x medalian is the best way to spend your 4 hours. If you run out of the
currency (I think its called blight dust) you can salvage cosmetic stuff you got from the initial
bright engrams you opened.

Those milestone rewards reset every week. They reset every Tuesday at 10am. These rewards
scale depending on when you collect them. Ideally you want to go claim them right before the
reset to get the max potential out of the gear. Don't worry if you complete a milestone by
accident it scales based on when you actually accept it. If you don't want to accept a rewar yet
just press escape to go to the next screen and do what you need to do. Next time you talk to him
he will offer the reward again. However an instance where you need to accept the reward is
Zavala the bold guy at the end of the story. Accept it whatever light level to complete the story.
Other instances you will need to accept rewards to continue the story or quest line but try
escape first and see if you can progress without picking up this reward that scales based on
when you choose to accept it. This is how you can steadily climb to 305 playing once a week by
getting all of them on one day.

Be careful which legendaries you salvage, some are really top tier for PVE and PVP. I will have to
compile a list later of which ones to look out for and store in your bank. You can bring there light
level up later with the mod guy.

Once you are 270 it gets tough, if you have any purple mods for whatever reason start adding
them to your gear. Just don't fuse pieces yet. Fusing is nice because at 280 it will allow you to
effectively boost up any armour/weapon piece you like to a corresponding piece with a higher
light level. Such as your favourite legendary pistol but its 260.

Around 270 finish the new quest line after the story in the EDZ (earth) rewarding you with the
mida multitool. It's a quest line, google it for instructions. Do all your weekly milestones and
once you are at your highest level accept the mida multitool. It's ok to get the minitool you get in
the begining of the quest line whenever you want 270 or above. It's a strong SMG never salvage
it. You can always boost this number up later to match a current SMG you found with your
highest possible light level and fuse it still use it at that new high light level. More on this later.
The mida multitool is one of if not the best PVP weapon in game. I moved on to it recently to
another lesser known but recently getting more known op pistol called Better Devils a Legendary
you get from the crucible (pvp) randomly after handing in tokens to the vendor.

Mobility is a useless stat, you want to avoid gear with high mobility really. However you can
actually alter a lot of weapons and armour just by inspecting them and switching between the
circle choices. Some armour for example are on "additional mobility" by default and there will be
an option offering "Additional resilience" or "Additional recovery". Switch to either of them.
Should look at your options, with weapons you can alter scopes and other factors such as
handling, reload speed, size of clip etc. Each circle has a pro and a con to it, go with what you
think sounds best. In pvp I use a handcannon called Better Devils, a legendary. I've changed to
the final of 3 options in one section which reduces stability (irrelevant to an extent on pc) in
exchange for more range and in another section gone for a smaller clip with a greatly improoved
reload speed. The weakness of the gun was it's terrible reload speed, and I didn't want to go
down a tree that auto reloads my weapon on melee so I compensated with modifications. These
can be switched freely with no cost or permanent damage so eperiment away! This I think is the
best set up on PC

With mods and abilities or passives on items they refer to solar, void and arc damage. Your
weapon type is dependant on this kind of damage. More importantly though each of your sub
classes is a element type. Whichever your favourite is, you want to use gear with the element
that corresponds to your class of prefference. Later purple mods that add 5 light level to your
gear have one of the 3 elements too. Load your gear up with corresponding element mods to
the class. Passives such as "using arc abilities recharge your grenades at a faster rate" will apply
to the arc subclass of your class only which for me is Striker.

Once you hit 280 you are able to craft purple mods from the mod guy. These enhance your gear
by 5. Put them on all gear to boost your light level. If you were to fuse your favourite gear before
that didn't have a purple mod in it with a higher corresponding weapon you want to replace it
with which did have a purple mod, it's artificially boosting the weapon that's going to be
consumed stats by 5 and that mod will be lost in the process. Purple mods are super hard to
come by very very rare I found like 3. So fusing can be a tricky process until 280 where you can
craft them, boost the stats of your favourite gear and put a new mod in to match the highest
number you wanted the weapon to have. I will explain this more to you when you hit 280
because i don't want you to make the same mistake i made and I will explain it in more depth
