The Rite of Horns and

Misrule
A ritual for lighting the fire of spirit

This ritual takes as its purpose to invigorate the brethren with the spirit of
divine intoxication. It is Bacchus-Dionysos in the form of the Grape dressed
Ram that is celebrated as the gatekeeper to the palaces of Misrule. Between
his horns blaze the light of spirit divine. This is the juice of the grape, the
cup of bliss draped in ivy. The ritual will start with offerings of honey to the
nymphs of confusion, here represented by the mistress of the labyrinth
Ariadne, their tamer. The land will then be offered milk and honey as well.
The vinum sabbati can follow any suitable formulae, but nutmeg, cinnamon,
fennelseed, brugmansia and mandrake is a good pentalpha for delirious
dreaming vagaries to play itself out in the flash of the spirit. The ritual
takes the form of the will and the symposium, meaning, the ecstasy of spirit
is better directed towards words of insight in the palace of spirit ignited.
The Magister and Lady must at all times ensure the circles perimeters and
when time is done, they will break the ritual by sounding the bell 13 times.
Upon the 13th knell he or she will break the central candle that previously
has been dressed and consecrated for him. Wine will be poured over the
broken candle. Bacchus must see death at the end. The brethren decide
upon whom will make the various calls, but Lord and Lady must at all times
secure the circle. The ritual should be adapted as seen proper.

Initial offering to the Land

At Ariadnes gate honey
To the trembling land honey
Bring to this rite and circle round
Stability and grace to abound
May the spirits benign bless us all
And may they all hear this, our call
For land, nymph and snake
For bull, night and light
Accept these gifts of land and soul
Amen!
Consecration of the Wine
BACCHI BACCHAE IAO
But to the Lord of the new wine wine will be given
BACCHI BACCHAE IAO
Bless thrice this wine and make its spirit abundant
Come with thy cloven hoof and mad pipers
Come with nymphs and woodwose
Come with spirits fair and fine
Blend thy spirit in this wine
This night of misrule and joy
Makes us wise in the wine
BACCHI BACCHAE IAO

The Call to Misrule

The Knell of Inbetweenness hath been struck
The bell of MISRULE soundeth
Reverberating the Thirteen Angels
Echoing through the Nine Spheres
Rousing the Deep Ones from the starry Abyss
Of UR KHAOS
Exalted be the Guardians of the Dolmen
Enchanted be the Word Unspeakable
The Signacula of MISRULE at the Gap betwixt the Times
Amid grey mist and gloaming I row
Through the hoary Stile of Stone
Through the whispering World Hedge

The Witches Rune and the turning of

the Mill
BAGAHI LACA BACHAHE
LAMAC CAHI ACHABAHE
KARRELYOS
LAMAC LAMEC BACHALYOS
CABAHAGI SABALYOS
BARYOLAS
LAGOZATHA CABYOLAS
SAMAHAC ET FAMYOLAS
HARRAHYA
The Call to the powers of Misrule
Aligned are Star and Mound and Stone
Come forth, Dark Preceptor
Thou Upright Man in Black
Sharp of tines and hard of hoof
Come forth, ye Woodwose of the Ancient Nights
With the Wild Charivari
The Blessing of the Dark Light to bestow

Thou old Goat Dog of the Sabbat

Shadow-cloakd Piper of the Corpse Ways
Divell and Master, I am rapt beyond
In the Mysterium of the Skull and the Serpent
Crowned with the gnarled Horns of Misrule
I ride triumphant upon the tempest
And rage in the wake of the Seven Whistlers
Masked in Ancestral Ecstasy
And mantled in the Grand Array of Night
HAIL I HOA HRAN HAIL HOU

The last sentence must be recited repeatedly with focused intent and power
from all the brethren and as spirit touch they will sit down and enjoy the
wine.

Closing salutation
O King of Misrule, who art the Worlds Upturner
O Goat of Saturnus, whose Law is Perpetual Revolt
O Divine Fool, Overthrower of the Profane Kingdom
Destroying and Creating All in the Rite of the Great Reversal
Thine are the Upraisd Horns
Thine is the Wisdom of Lust
Thine are the Red-Ochred Bones
Thine is the Graveyard Dust
HAIL I HOA HRAN HAIL HOU

The bell will toll 13 knells. The candle will be broken and drenched in wine.

Bacchus is dead! Long Live Bacchus!
