These were observed in all the lavatories and on the different levels of different blocks of each hall .
Leakages were seen on the different fixtures like taps, showers, toilet cistern, through toilet bowls and
urinals for the boys halls. Leakage rates varied from very high and fast flowing to very mild droplets.
Some leakages were continuous whiles others only occurred when a tap or shower is opened.
The leakages were quantified per level per block and totals for each hall were calculated where among
the girl halls Africa hall has the highest level of water loss through leakages that is1,128litres/day mainly
due to broken faucets that is the taps in the wash hand basins and shower taps while complex hall has
the lowest water loss through leakages quantified at 590litres/day
And among boys halls University hall had the highest level of water loss through leakages that is
20,353.6litres/day mainly due to the automated urinal system that flushes every after 10minutes even
without usage throughout the day while Dag Hammarskjold hall has the lowest water losses
173litres/day due to its small population and maintained fixtures.
In general University hall has the highest level of water losses through leakages as shown in the table
