Lesson Plan for Teaching via centers/groups

Subject: Science

Strand: All about me (Five sense)

Learning Outcome (ADEC code and words): KLW3 Describe the five senses and their corresponding body parts.

- play dough (black, red, pink) - The numbers of the worksheet
- Plastic eyes - Check the data show works.
- Markers - Check the internet connection.

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)


- Ask the students about the weeks day, and today is what, yesterday was?
- Sing the week song to let the students remember.
- Ask the students in which month are we?
Time: 10-15 min

- Sing the month song to help the students to know.


Whole

- The MST write what the student will learn today in one sentence (today we are learning about five
senses).
- I will choose some student to write what they will learn one by one, letter by letter.
- Some of the students dont get the letters, so the MST sing the song of sound to help the students to
remember.
- I will begin the five sense-song music, and they will sing along with the song and moving.
- I will ask the students some questions such as: where are your eyes? How many ears you have? What
can we touch?
(The MCT will observe me at the middle)

Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)


- I will easily explain each activity.
- There are five groups in the classroom.
- I will start to call the students name and gives them the shapes of the group to split them. (the group
names are Sort according to the shapes).
- I will provide the student 10-20 minutes to finish their activity.
- I will tell them if I see a distinct and respectful behavior groups am going to gives them a prize!
Independent Experience (small group activity 1)
- The Stars group (High Ability) which they are high-level-students.
- Each student in these group will be given a poster with one of the five senses.
- There will be many pictures on the table so they can tack the images that related to the sense that they
got and stick it to the poster (without teacher help).
Time:10-20 min

Independent Experience (small group activity 2)


- The Triangle group (On-Above Level).
- I will give the triangle group a worksheet it will be about how many, this sheet will have
numbers and pictures of the body parts and how many we have eyes, mouth, nose, etc.
- The student will connect this activity to their body, and they will see how many eyes they have
and mouth and go on.
Independent Experience (small group activity 3)
- The Rectangle group (on level). The rectangle group they will have 2 activities one will be work sheet
with some pictures of five senses (eyes, ear, tongue, hand, and nose) and pictures are related to the five
senses job.
- The students will match line between the images of the five senses and the role of them.
- I will show the students how to draw the lines to match.
- The other activity is fun activity which its a laminate faces and some magazines pictures they are
(eyes, mouth, nose).
- After they done the matching activity they will do it to not wasting their time on chatting or playing.
- This activity is fun and easy. Its to let each student to make a funny face by Taking randomly eyes,
mouth and nose. To put it in the face and see the result. Activity 1
Activity 2

Independent Experience (small group activity 4)


- The Squares group (below level) I will answer them if they ask me any questions.
- The square group will have a worksheet have the most critical five senses which they are (see, taste,
hear, touch, smell).
- The square group will glue each sense in the right place of their proper
job in the picture as it shows.

Independent Experience (small group activity 5)


- The circle group will need the teacher support (low-level-students).
- There will be a teacher with them if its necessary because there is a special-needs student do they
need help from the Assistant.
- I will give the circle group something fun and easy, so they can enjoy while they do it without
felling its hard to them.
- The activity is by giving the students some faces and play dough.
- I will show the students how to use the play dough safety and tell them the rules of playing.
- The student will start to make eyes than mouth and nose.
- When the students finish the activity, I will ask them some questions for example what we can see
from our eyes? What do you smell today? What we taste?

Closing:
Time: 5-10 min

- At the end, I'll make the bell sound to let the students clean up.
- Call them to the carpet after they done the cleaning.
- Ask them some questions for example: what you can see, how many fingers you have? etc.
Assessment

I will know if the children understand or not by observing them during the activities in their centers.
