Calculation for torsional moment and check for torsion is performed as per ACI code as the checks
are more elaborate and also performed as per BS 8110
6.3.3 Calculation of Torsional Moment
Torsion due to eccentricity of Horizontal Forces (soil and surcharge components):
(Projection of ring footing base is neglected for torsional rigidity calculation)
C.G. of soil hoop force Fsoil from base = ysoil = (hb+tf)/3 = 0.67 m
C.G. of surcharge hoop force Fsur from base = ysur = (hb+tf)/2 = 1.00 m
C.G. = y = (Fsoil(hb+tf)/3+Fsuroper(hb+tf)/2)/(Fsoil+Fsuroper) = 0.96 m
Eccentricity of force = eh = ((hb+tf) / 2) - y = 0.04 m
Torsion = Th = (1.4 Fsuroper + 1.4 Fsoil) x eh = 7.16 kNm/m of ring footing

Torsion due to eccentricty of Vertical Forces (Fluid load, Shell edge load & Anchor Bolt components):
Shell edge load on ring beam (Vs) = 22.366 kN/m of ring footing
Eccentricity of shell edge on ring beam=evs=(bb/2-(ID-Dib)/2) = 0.000 m
Uniform fluid load on inside hz. projection of ring beam(V b) = 47.425 kN/m of ring footing
Width of Uniform fluid load on ring beam = wb=(ID-Dib)/2 = 0.350 m
Eccentricity of fluid load on inside ring beam=e vb=(bb/2-wb/2) = 0.175 m
Uniform fluid load on inside hz. projection of footing(Vf) = 0.000 kN/m of ring footing
Width of Uniform fluid load on ring footing = w f=(Dib-Dif)/2 = 0.000 m
Eccentricity of fluid load on inside ring footing=evf=(bf/2-wf/2) = 0.350 m
Torsion = Tv = 1.4 (Vb x evb + Vf x evf) = = 11.619 kNm/m of ring footing
Total torsional force (Tv+Th) = = 18.783 kNm/m of ring footing
As the ring beam is fully supported on ground the Torsion moment for per m is considered in calculation

ph = 4736 mm2
fyv = fyt = 410 N/mm2
Al = 130 mm2
Total area of steel required = 6430

### dia bars at spacing of 150 mm c/c

Check for Torsion (as per BS 8110 requirements)

Torsional shear stress = vt = 2T/(bb2(hb+t-bb/3)) = 0.043 mPa
Vtmin = 0.400
Vtu = 5.000
Vt<Vtmin<Vtu
Torsional reinforcement is not required

6.3.2 Vertical Reinforcement Design

Shear in beam
Provide minimum shear reinforcement = Asv = 0.4bsv/(0.95fy)
Provide 20 dia bars 2 legged stirupps
Required spacing sv = Asv*0.87fy/(0.4*average width)
= 402*0.87*460/(0.4*800)
= 502.75125
Provide spacing = 150 mm
Hence provide 16 dia 2 legged stirrups at 150 mm c/c
