Materials:
-Construction paper (yellow, brown, red)
-Scissors
-Glue
-Pencil
Implementations:
-I will explain to the classroom as whole what the activity is about.
-Then I will ask the students to come with me in a small group of
three students and work on the craft.
-I will demonstrate again what to do, then I will ask the students to
paste the shapes on the construction paper to make the emoji.
Teaching strategies:
Environmental cues: I will have the activity set up at one of the
tables during centers time. The children usually love to see what
each center has everyday; the children will look at the table with my
activity and will get an idea of what I will be doing with today. After
looking, the children usually ask me if they can do the activity with
me first.
Modeling: I will model how to do the activity before they begin. I
noticed that the kindergartens do better at an activity once it is
demonstrated once so they have an idea of what to do.
Reflection:
The activity I did today with the students went really well. It was my
first activity at this placement and I was sort of nervous because you
never know how it is going to turn out and it turned out really good.
Every single student in the classroom participated because they were all
intrigued and wanted to create an emoji too. They all asked me if they
can take it home and show it to their parents, it was really cute. For the
future, I will make different emoji faces rather than just making one
because then the students have more options.
