Being helpful

I was standing at the gate, calling for Sameeha to come inside after she went out with me to retrieve
the ball, when Faraj approached me and said I will go get Sameeha.

At first I wasnt sure if it was a good idea as Sameeha is still learning to be gentle but then I said ok as
Faraj masha allah very confidently spoke up. Faraj then went out the gate towards Sameeha. Faraj said
to her Sameeha come and gently placed his arm around her and slowly walked down the ramp with
her.

Once they were inside, Faraj closed the gate and then made sure the gate is closed by pulling on the
gate. He smilled shyly when I said thank you to him and run back to his friends.

Masha allah here I have utilized Farajs kind and caring nature by trusting him to go outside the gate
and getting Sameeha. It was also a good opportunity for Faraj to work on his learning goals by keeping
himself and others from harm.

It is also in our philosophy that children are given opportunities to foster a tuakana teina approach
where they get the opportunity to look after young children. This learning story also links to Faraj
previous learning story where he was bieng very gentle and kind to his friend Layal.

Insh allah, our next learning step for Faraj are to continue to keep himself and others safe in social
interactive activities and to further develop confidence in expressing his ideas and feelings.
