1d. Please open your music booklets to page ____ to our song Break Forth, O
Beauteous Heavenly Light
1a. Were going to get acquainted with this song this morning this harmonization
were singing was actually written by Johann Sebastian Bach, so its a little trickier
than your average Christmas carol! But its going to sound so great when we put it
all together. Well be focusing on the first 8 measures today.
1a. Lets try it once more Ill sing it again and then lets have just the sopranos
echo it back to me.
1d. Lets now learn the bass part and start adding harmonies! There are quite a
few octave jumps in this part, so listen carefully! Lets have everyone try and echo
me more for fun.
1d. Now lets hear just the basses echo this time.
TRANSITION:
1a. Now lets work in one of our inner parts well add in the tenor first.
1a. This part is syncopated, so there are a few parts that are off the beat, which
will sound really great with the other parts.
1d. Tenors, please listen first and then echo me. Everyone can get a beat going on
their leg if youd like to help keep time for the syncopation JMU can we show our
best spider fingers?
