Fundamental Pedagogy (SPPP 2002) - 01
2 Synopsis
This course introduces fundamental knowledge and skill of pedagogy (the art and science of teaching) which
emphasise on teaching models, approaches, strategies and methods to improve learning outcomes. To
facilitate students in facing the challenges in education system, the topic of current curriculum (KSSM, KSSR)
and its impact on teaching approaches (student-centered learning) and assessment (school-based assessment)
will be analyzed . Other related topics are classroom management, item development procedures based on
Bloom Taxanomy, components and criteria of designing a quality lesson plans as well as micro teaching.
Methods of assessment for this course includes presentation, projects, final exam and generic skills
(communication and the thinking skills).

7 Course Learning Outcomes (CLO)
CLO 1 Possess the knowledge of pedagogy which includes various models, approaches, strategies and
methods, active and effective learning, classroom management from the cognitivist and
behaviorist perspectives and concept of assessment which comply to the principles of
measurement (validity and reliability).
CLO 2 Develop items with six different levels of difficulty based on Blueprint and Bloom Taxonomy
CLO 3 Produce a complete daily lesson plan incorporating the elements of 21st century learning
based on the format prescribed by UTM Teacher Trainees Teaching Record Book
