(1) Goats are reared on a piece of land which has a shaped of a right-angled triangle. The longest side of the
piece of land is y m while the other two sides are of lengths (x + 6) m and (3x 2) m.
Given the perimeter of the land is 48 m, find the value of x and the area, in m2, of the land.

(2) Table 2 shows the distribution of the masses of 40 parcels. Given the median mass of all the parcels is
35.5 g.

(a) Find the value of x, y and z.

(b) State the value of n. Hence, calculate the composite index for the cost of manufacturing the cream

(d) The cost of manufacturing the cream is expected to increase by 20% from the year 2004 to the year
2008. Find the expected composite index for the year 2008 based on the year 2000.
