What is inquiry? To me inquiry mean, questions. The foundation of asking good level

to find an overall answer. We investigative the claim, evidence that we did not know. Science

inquiry is not just about getting to the answer. The process of how you come about your answer

is what is most crucial. It can be a long and grueling process. But along the way, you can find out

additional information about a certain topic. You can find out what variables work and what

variables do not work while searching for the outcomes to the topic one is trying to learn more

about. authentic scientific inquiry is most simply described as the doing of science' in a

manner that mirrors the actual practice of scientific communities (Atkin & Black, 2003).

Inquiry is better preparing students for how to solve the problems later and also think for

themselves and troubleshoot any situation.

Exploration, concept development and application the article sets up the process of

how inquiry should be implemented (Bergman & Olson, 2011). The exploration phases the

students are experiment and questioning the activity in front of them. the teacher should all time

for the students to play with their items required for the activity before starting the experiment.

This results in student will becoming more comfortable with the tools. Following the exploration

is the concept development. the concept development is the phase where the teacher prompts the

students, to make sense of the information, (Bergman & Olson, 2011). This is good

opportunity to have the students partake in an activity accessing their language skill while

resulting in the organization of their gathering information.

Also, students should understand inquiry as a process. Finding information about the

natural word is about asking questions, making claims, and conducting experiments to find those

answers. They should view it as a process that can be done in groups or independently. Students

should realize that much of this investigative process is student-driven and student-centered.

Students should understand they themselves are scientists and that anyone can be a scientist.

Students should also understand that science inquiry can take the form of many different

arrangements. For example, students can conduct their science inquiry through the format of a

paper, a PowerPoint, a real-time experiment, and through verbally communicating with their

classmates as a whole class or in groups.

Inquiry can be used in the classroom in several ways. It can be used as a hands-on lesson

or a lesson based solely off of finding information through textbooks, professional peer reviewed

journal articles, and reputable based information from videos. Students can conduct real

experiments to questions that they personally want to know about or that the teacher wants them

to discover more information about. When applying inquiry in a classroom, it crucial that the

lesson stays engaging so that students do not become off task. At the same time, however,

inquiry based lessons should not be too difficult or too simple, because that may cause the same

effect with students that are working alone or even in groups. They may either shut down, or get

done their assignment too quickly and become unfocussed.

The procedure should be very student engaging and interesting for the students so they

can apply themselves more. The experiment should also add to the students scientific way of

thinking so that they can apply this way of thought in other subject areas they may encounter. In

the article also describe student should understand inquiry as what scientists do the important

process skills that are an integral part of science, (Bergman & Olson, 2011). Exposing students

to inquiry permits them to witness and be a part of the way real world science is explored. The

teacher can also help the students understand the process is reflective of the process used by

scientists performing current research. It can be beneficial for the students to feels as though they

are scientists with the necessary tools to explore the world.

The NSTA on inquiry states is, the diverse ways in which scientists study the natural

world and propose explanations base on the evidence derived knowledge and understanding of

scientific idea, as well an understanding of how scientist study the natural world (NSTA, 2004).

National Science Teachers Association position on what scientific inquiry was, I would say that

my personal definition matched up nicely with what the NSTAs was.

Both article is the same of how the teachers in the article have students propose

explanations based on evidence students conducted on how to create a design that prevents rust.

The students had to gather and understand science ideas and concepts. And both are should be

used for understanding students to have of inquiry and the teacher had to have a prior knowledge

of how their students learned to see if they would even be mentally and physically able to do

science inquiry and complete the experiment.
