SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students
in this class?
B Block: This may not have been the students first choice, making sure that they are all prepared and on
task will be important. Need to be going over rules and making sure the students all understand how the
game is to be played.
C Block: There are three students in wheelchairs and one other student and the four of these students
have severe special needs. Need to be aware of this and make adjustments as needed.
E Block: Make sure to keep students in partners that will work together and not always let them just
choose to be with their friends
F Block: There are a few students who this activity was not their first choice so they may be annoyed or
not happy that this was the activity they were put in. Most trouble makers were separated from their
friends
Overall be aware of the fact that we are outside and stay farther away from the building and the noise
level.

Spikeball Rules: opportunities to be
The serve must first hit the net successful
You may have three hits per side
before the ball goes back into the
net
Serve switches to the other team
when a point is lost.
Serve alternates between the two
players on each team as points are
scored
Once the ball is volleyed into the
net the other team must now
return it.
If the ball hits the rim of the hoop
and takes a funny bounce the
point is replayed.
If the ball is hit directly into the
net and bounces twice the team
that did not hit the ball into the
net gets a point
Point is scored when:
o The ball bounces outside
of the hoop
o The ball bounces twice on
the net
o There are more than 3 hits
on a side
There is rally scoring
Game is played to 21 (we will
play for time)
Every serve a point will be scored
unless the point needs to be
replayed.
Games will be 3 minutes long,
each team will play five games,
will set up a rotating pattern for
movement. Team with the most
points at the end of 3 minutes
wins, if there is a tie they play out
one last point.
Demonstration: Will show an example
of a few points just so that the students
understand the scoring.
Check for Understanding: When is a
point scored?
The ball bounces outside
of the hoop
o The ball bounces twice on
the net
o There are more than 3 hits
on a side

Transition: Have all of the students stop

and bring it in to the middle

Transition: Students will be going back
inside into the locker rooms to change
and go back to their normal classes.
