Application Fee Waiver Form

If you feel that the $55 application fee presents a severe hardship for your family, please see the requirements on page 2
to determine whether you would be eligible to receive an application fee waiver.

instructions: All students requesting an application fee waiver for the Yale Young Global Scholars Program
must upload this completed form with the financial aid portion of their application. Students must complete
and sign the top portion of the form, while the bottom portion must be completed and signed by an authorized
official. An authorized official is someone over 18 who is: 1) a high school counselor or school administrator;
2) an official representative of a federal, state, or local program serving low-income students; 3) a social worker
or other federal, state, or local employee of a social service organization serving low-income families; or 4) a
certified independent counselor. If you have questions about who qualifies as an authorized official, please
contact us directly at global.scholars@yale.edu.

Eligibility Requirements: Student must currently be a 10th or 11th grade student applying to the Yale
Young Global Scholars Program and meet at least one of the indicators of economic need (see page 2) in
order for this form to be considered valid.

Eligibility Requirements: Student must currently be a 10th or 11th grade student and meet at least one
of the following indicators of economic need in order to receive a fee waiver. If no indicator is checked, the
fee waiver request will be denied.

economic need indicators (domestic applicants):

Student has received or is eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver.

Student is enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program.
Students annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food
and Nutrition Service.

Student is enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families
(e.g., TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).

Students family receives public assistance.

Student lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home, or is homeless.

Student is a ward of the state or an orphan.

Other request from high school principal, high school counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader.
