1. What's New in STAAD.Pro 2006, Build 1005.US.REL
An additional option to display a contour of the direct forces resolved into the
global directions has been added that operates in a similar manor to the Global
Moment contour option.
D) Issues addressed in the GUI Concrete (RC Designer) Mode
----------------------------------------------------------
1. RC Designer Mode
A number of minor updates have improved calculations for shear capacities.
2. Piping Z UP
The import of ADI files has been simplified such that the vertical system of the
ADI file must match that of the STAAD.Pro model. It is recommended that if a
change is needed then the pipe model axis be changed in AutoPipe.
3. AutoPipe macro
An OpenSTAAD macro has been included in the installation that allows the STAAD
structural model to be converted into an AutoPipe NTL batch file and thus included
in a stiffness analysis of a pipe run.
The macro called 'ToAutoPipe.vbs'is installed in the \spro2006\OpenSTAAD folder.

2. What's New in STAAD.Pro 2006, Build 1004.US.REL
Please refer to the Software Release Report for STAAD.Pro 2006 build 1004 for this
information.
Issues addressed in the Analysis engine
---------------------------------------
1. The engine has been enhanced to use the TRUSS command on Physical Members
2. The effective width computation for the composite beam now includes
1/8 X Length of beam as defined in the AISC manual.
4. SET NOFILE option added to turn off inclusion of key file information at the end
of the
output file. Note this can also be set in the File>Configuration> input/Output
File Format.
5. The default number of primary load cases now considered by STAAD.Pro is 4000,
this can
be extended if required from the Commands> Miscellaneous >SET NL menu option.
6. Wind load calculations on open frames improved for members that are
perpendicular to the plane
of the wind load, but not parallel to the global axes.
7. The reported shear areas of tubes have been updated to the following:-
Ay=2*D*TF
Az=2*WF*TF
10. The internal use of standard steel databases has been enhanced so that the
engine no longer
requires TLB files.
12. AISC-LRFD. For design per the LRFD 3rd edition code, if the axial compression
capacity of a single
angle is governed by Section 4 on page 16.3-2 of the specifications, then the
term Phi_c
has to have a value of 0.9, however the STAAD output file indicates it as 0.85.
This
incorrect display in the output has been rectified as the program used the
correct value.
13. AISC-ASD and LRFD. The RATIO parameter was not being considered when
determining whether a member
has failed the slenderness limit checks. So, if the ratio of Actual KL/r to
allowable KL/r exceeded 1, the member was considered to have failed, regardless
of
the value specified for the RATIO parameter. The program has now been changed
so that,
if the actual KL/r divided by allowable KL/r exceeds RATIO, only then is the
member
considered to have failed that check. This change affects design per the AISC
ASD
and LRFD codes if the RATIO parameter has been specified.
14. BS 5950-2000. Warning added in output for ISECTION and PARAMETRIC defined
sections that cannot be
designed to the BS5950-2000 code.
15. BS 5950-p5. Torsional Flexural Buckling parameter FLX has been fixed. This was
not being set and
assumed that the restraint was being provided

included, caused
some parameters not to be used correctly.

structure without any
additional member loading has been addressed and is now possible.

1998-1-1:1994 and EN 1998-1:2004.
22. The analysis results for Analytical and physical member are matching for
trapezoidal loading and Concentrated moments.

angle per the ASCE code is modified.
24. A correction has been made in the shearwall design as per IS456.

are not
perpendicular to the applied wind direction. The loading is modified to
account for the projected
surface area rather than the actual member.

Please refer to the Software Release Report for STAAD.Pro 2006 for this
information.
Errors corrected in the Analysis engine since STAAD.Pro 2005, Build 1003.US.REL
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the analysis engine may stop with an Access Violation message. The workaround is to
specify the DIRECTION command after the COMPOSITE command.
3. For design of HSS sections per the LRFD code, in the check involving the
interaction of axial force, flexure, shear and torsion, the strength reduction
factor was not applied to the flexure term when the flexural strength is governed
by the product of elastic section modulus and yield strength. It resulted in a
slightly unconservative ratio if that equation turned out to be critical.
Changes made to the Analysis and Design engine since STAAD.Pro 2005, Build
1003.US.REL

the program will now report that condition as a warning and reset it to its default
value. This change will affect the selfweight calculation for models in which the
above condition is present.
