A Case Study in Kenya and Tanzania
July 4--August 15, 2014 The Elementary & Secondary Inclusive Education program in the Department of Curriculum & Teachingin partnership with Maseno Universitys Department of Music & Theatre Studies (Kenya), the Indigenous Information Network (Kenya) and Serian UK (United Kingdom and Tanzania)is pleased to offer a six-week seminar in Kenya and Tanzania. Partially funded by the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program, the seminar aims to foster teachers capacities to create rich learning opportunities for diverse student bodies. Fellowships will cover travel for 5 Pre-Service teachers and 5 In-Service teachers affiliated with the New York City Department of Education. FEATURED ACTIVITIES: Fellowship includes: round-trip airfare from NYC Interactive school visits to city in Kenya or Tanzania; program-related Collaborative curriculum unit planning transportation in host countries; maintenance Engagement with Luo cultural practices allowance for housing and food. COSTS (paid by participant): Homestay with Maasai family $1500 cost-share fee; visa fees/c0sts; health in- Learning Swahili traditions and customs surance coverage; spending money; transporation Field study excursion to Mount Kilimanjaro to/from NYC (plus accomodation, if necessary)
