Due to the fact that hydrate is struggled to form in the blank cells, the results of test at 0.3
vol%, 0.1 vol% of KHI is inconclusive. 3
LAB TEST RESULTS
As gas compositions have a level of uncertainties, in this test batch 03, 1.5 Deg C of margin is
added to the test temperature to cover for gas composition uncertainties.

- At 90 barg and 11.5C hydrate readily forms with all blank cells (both rocking and static).

- 0.3 vol%: 01 cell recorded hydrate formation
- 0.1 vol%: 03 cells recorded hydrate formation

ASSESSMENT OF UNCERTAINTIES
Seabed temperature measurement: Each Lan Do well are fitted with 02 TTs. The
lowest value among the 04 TTs is used for study. Thus, uncertainties in seabed
temperature are considered low.

Hydrate formation curve: The hydrate curve generated by Multiflash software has been
verified by HET test in Laboratory so the hydrate curve has a low level of uncertainty

The hydrate equilibrium temperature is 16 Deg C

5
ASSESSMENT OF UNCERTAINTIES
Gas compositions: has a level of uncertainty. Therefore 1.5 Deg C margin is added
to cover for such uncertainty.

Hydrate predicted for Lan Do is Type II which is made of Propane, i-butane, n-butane

6
ASSESSMENT OF UNCERTAINTIES
KHI injection quantity measurement: by tank level and the calibration pot on pump.

LT on Tank: accuracy 0.5% while 1% level is equal to 148 liters. The error is 74 liters
almost equal to injection rate.

Calibration pot: 200ml with 10ml division => uncertainty could be 5 ml due to
difference in angle of sight. Current practice is measure 55ml/min => error could be
7.2 liter/d ~ 9%

Uncertainty is relatively low with consideration to install new KHI flow-meter on IRCD
(FCP required).

7
Calibration Pot
ASSESSMENT OF UNCERTAINTIES

Gas & Water production measurement:

LD Gas flow (WGM) has a error of 2%
Water flow error (WGM) is high i.e. 1m3/h. Current approach is estimate water
production based on FT-39028 which has a accuracy of 0.5%.
Water production uncertainty is low at the moment. It will be high when we start
producing formation water from Lan Do.

8
Recommendations - Option 1
Keep the current 0.5vol% dosing rate .No further reduction will be made.
Concerns : NO

Min Temp: 13. 7 Deg C

Successful field test in Feb 17 with 0.5vol% at seabed temp. of 15 Deg C

From Feb till now min seabed temp. is 13.7 Deg C => no anomaly observed
9
Recommendations - Option 2

14.5
Deg C 0.3vol% KHI

Seabed Temp.

< 14.5
Deg C 0.5vol% KHI

Concerns associated:
Normal operations: More complex in operations which might lead to human error on
not injecting the required rate
Planned Shut-down: increase injection rate to 0.5vol% prior to shut-down
Un-planned shut-down: it is not possible to increase the KHI if sea-bed temperature
decrease during the shut-down period. In this case, depressurization is required after 2
days.

10
Recommendations - Option 2

02 Cells No hydrate forming after 7 days at 90 barg, 11.5 Deg C

01 Cell hydrate forming after 90 hours ~ 3.5 days 11
Recommendations - Option 3

14.5
Deg C NO KHI

Seabed Temp.

< 14.5
Deg C 0.5vol% KHI

Concerns associated:
Normal operation: More complex in operations which might lead to human error on
not injecting the required rate

Planned shut-down: inject 0.5vol% KHI prior to shut-down

Un-planned of shut-down, depressurization is required if seabed temperature reduce

to below 14.5 Deg C (3.5 hours to depressurize the flowline to 45 barg via topside
choke).

12
Recommendations - Option 3

Hydrate growth is very slow pressure change is small

throughout the test ~ 01 bar

Lab Test result Blank Cell at Static Conditions 13

Recommendations - Option 3

Hydrate growth is very slow pressure change is small

throughout the test ~ 01 bar

Lab Test result Blank Cell Rocking Conditions 14

CONCLUSION

1. Further reduce KHI injection from 0.5vol% to 0.3vol% with below notes FCP to be
processed by Dec 17
Planned shut-down: increase injection rate prior to shut-down
Unplanned shut-down: the effectiveness duration of KHI is reduced from 7 days to
3.5 days. Depressurization is required after 2 days of shut-down.

2. Study for the case stop injecting KHI

Define temperature that can stop injecting KHI and the feasibility in operations
Check other hydrate testing service apart from Baker Hughes e.g. Nalco, Vietsov
Consider for a field test for not injecting KHI in normal operations
