Welcome to the RMT Scottish Regional Council Womens Committee

Newsletter.
For those that are unaware of the Womens involvement within the RMT
Union let me explain.
The National Womens Committee meet 3 times a year in London.
Scotland have 5 members on this Committee who discuss Womens issues and
then send resolutions to the National Executive. Items for discussion are sent
to this Committee through Branches. Women from all Industries covered by
the RMT sit on this Committee.
Regional Council meetings are held in Perth every quarter and members
are entitled to attend. Details can be obtained from Branch Secretaries.
Branches normally meet every month where members can discuss issues
and then send resolutions to the Regional Council. These can then be sent to
the National Executive for implementation.
At the recent meeting of the Scottish Womens Regional Committee
items discussed were the lack of Body Cams, Provision of Toilet Facilities,
Safety aspect of Walking Routes and when risk assessments were undertaken.
These relate to Scotrail. Items of concern can be given in writing to Reps,
Branch Officials and Regional Office. These can then be processed through the
appropriate channels. It would be ideal if female members from Shipping,
Network Rail or other Industries got involved either by joining the committee,
attending meetings or sending in items of concern.
